What a game last night!?!?

Attention Columbus: That's what happens when you show up to play 20 minutes of hockey instead of 60.

Downtown was electric for a couple of hours after the game. Erat and the boys worked hard last night and it was nice to see the young team fight for the win all 60 minutes long. It was even better to see that work pay off with 8 ticks left on the clock.

There's been a fair bit of talk about Philly, the Pens and the Broons (who just happen to be *cough* +56), but the Rangers have flown under the radar a bit and go into the xmas break as the #2 seed in the Conference. They're a tough team with great goaltending, so don't expect them to go away.

Surprises in the East include the Panthers, who despite a thrashing by Boston tonight, maintain the lead in the SE. They've been hit very hard with injuries, so we'll see there. Toronto started hot and have come back to the pack, and the Caps may still make a run if they can turn things around.

Very true. The Rangers are playing great hockey. If Lundqvist played the rest of the league as well as he plays against the Flyers, they'd probably go 72 and 10. :crying:

At this point, I'm thinking that Bobrovsky is a more dependable goalie than Bryzgalov. Briere and Couturier being out doesn't help them at the center position, either.

I've never been able to stand the Rangers, but from watching the HBO specials leading up to the Winter Classic, Lundqvist is a very likable guy. Doesn't hurt that he's a musician. ;)

Tortorella on the other hand... Man that guy irritates me. He always has that sarcastic smirk on his face. But that being said, the Flyers and Pens better take note: The Rangers are for real...

Man, our D-corps looks terrible when we've got guys out. They're solid when they are paired up the right way, but so out of place without their normal linemates.

Good news is that Smith is helping to fill the void left behind by Ward, O' Reilly, and Sully. If only someone was filling SOB's spot, we'd be okay.

You can tell it's break time. Last post on Xmas eve ;)

Hopefully the Flyers can get back into the win column and put together a solid week before the Winter Classic.

For some reason I thought it was going to be played on Sunday,...but apparently it's on Monday,....which I have to work. So I'm going to probably miss it live. Sad Face.

EDIT: and yes,...the Rangers are having a solid season. I really want to see the Flyers beat the Rags on Jan 2,...but they will have their work cut out for them.

Pens host Carolina tonight, but I'm more interested in the Flyers game or even the Detroit game. The Red Wings are shaping up and Howard is playing out of his mind.

I'd like to watch Winnipeg in Colorado, but we'll see how tired I am after the first period.

Captain Shea Weber is out indefinitely with vertigo stemming from a concussion on an unnecessary and dirty hit late in the game against Dallas. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

Here's what I had to say about it on the Preds blog I used to help mod:

"That should've gotten a call. That hit came at a time when the game was already out of hand, and after Dallas had its thugs try and rile a few feathers up. There is no reason to make a play like that unless you're trying to send a message or take someone out of the game."

I didn't know about Shea Weber. That is a major bummer.

I'm leaning to what my buddy here at work suggested regarding dirty hits, the suspension is as long as the injured player is out and you don't get to fill the roster spot.

Pens torch the Hurricanes and climb even with the Flyers, but two points behind the Rangers. Next up is Jagr, Maxime, and the Orange gang in CONSOL on Thursday. It's going to be a good one.

So far, so good for the Jets. I might make it to the end of this one....thank you quad Americano. :D

It's gonna' be a REAL good one for your Pens if the Flyers don't snap out of the low-scoring funk they're in. They lost 5-1 to Tampa Bay tonight. Bryzgalov gave up 5 goals on only 19 or 20 shots. I've said it before, but I feel like Bobrovsky is a better goaltender right now than Bryzgalov. He's quicker (especially moving side to side). Bryzgalov looked very slow moving side to side tonight and yielded a couple of those goals by not getting across quickly enough. Those are the type of saves Bob seems to make pretty consistently. My guess is that Bob will get the nod against the Pens.

It blows. Not the best image possible, but hopefully it gives you guys an idea of how it went down. Fistric left his feet and fell on top of Weber after the hit.

Red Wings down two in the second score three straight to end the Blues 10 game winning streak. This isn't the first time the Wings have ended a streak. The boys from Hockeytown are playing pretty darn good hockey now under the radar. Ian White was a great pick up in the off season. Howard and Fillpula is having a break-out seasons. The Vezina for Howard is a distinct possibility.
