Canada wins bronze at the World Jrs. IMO, bronze is a better medal to win, as you go out on a win, not a loss.

Not that I'm biased *(Ok, I am "Wicked" biased), but the Bruins look a lot better than last year; and they were not too shabby in 2010-11.
Yikes, feel bad for Calgary at the moment....

Unbelievable ending the the Flyers game! Patrick Kane takes a high-sticking penalty with 1:38 to go in a tied game and JVR scores his second of the night to win it for the Flyers 5-4!
Third place is not better than second, dude. Losing the semi-final is worse than losing the final. You can argue with me, but you can't argue with figures.

I have played in sports tournaments my whole life, I have one second and third. Believe me, winning third was much more of a high than loosing first.
In other news, Leafs manage to put together a really well played game. Wilson is applying the "you win, you play" model with his goaltenders, so Gustafson is going to keep getting the starts.

No way. You may be "winning" third, but you've already "lost" first and second. Winning a consolation game is in no way more fulfilling than playing for gold & coming up short. I certainly never got a "high" from winning a game like that.
Oh, the Jets were bad. Baaaad. We just can't play on the road. Period. I just don't get it.
The NHLPA rejected the realignment plan. I haven't had time to read the details to know who to be mad at.

Just heard that too. A few months ago, when the league announced that the realignment was going to happen, had the NHLPA already mulled it over and given some indication of consent, or did the owners all come to an agreement and announce it before the NHLPA had an opportunity to weigh in? This would seem to be the crux of knowing who's ass to chew.
In other news, just watched MA Fleury muff an easy puck, which led to a Rangers goal. He almost got away with it when Gaborik couldn't make the angle work, but a crashing Stepan punched it in. Pretty big boner by Fleury.
Danny Briere gets a hat trick this afternoon as the Flyers beat the Sens 3-2 in O/T. Briere notched the game-winner with about 10 seconds left in O/T. Flyers had way too many giveaways though, and were fortunate to come away with the 2 points.
Oh yeah - Briere also got into a rare fight. Only the 5th fight in his career. No damage done to either of the combatants... If he could have just picked up an assist, he'd have had the Gordy Howe hat trick...

Wow, the Pens blew it this weekend. Four losses in a row has them sitting at #8 in the East with Winnipeg (1) and Washington (2) points behind. Still time to turn it around thankfully.
Impressive though to see NJ turning it around. San Jose is making some noise in the West while the Wild continue to freefall.

Yeah, the Pens have had a bad run here lately. The East is really tight right now. Only four points separate the 5-8 playoff spots and the two teams immediately outside of the playoffs: the Devils are in 5th with 48 points, and the Caps are two spots outside of the playoffs with 44 points. At this rate, March is going to be a very interesting month...
