You guys follow the Juniors ?

Very good game yesterday between Russia and Tchec republic. Both goalies stole the show.

Semi finals today between Canada-Russia and Sweden-Finland.

That Scandinavian semi will probably be a war.

Caught part of the special on the '72 Summit Series between Canada and Russia. There is some great stuff in there. Great interviews with the players then and now. For those that missed it, it's going to be on again Sunday at 10.

Classic Phil Esposito and his salute to Breshnev. Bobby Clarke and his ankle breaking slash to cripple the Russian team. Miroslav Tretiak commenting on the training program the Russians put him through. Ken Dryden's dad going after Goodenough on the train. Classic stuff.

RE: Winter Classic (just finished watching it).

Way to snatch Defeat from the Jaws of Victory Flyers.

The Flyers need to make a move for a porch clearing defenceman to replace Pronger.

This is not a playoff caliber team right now.

I was born in 73 so growing up I really only heard the legend of that 72 series, never saw it. A few years ago my wife gave me the complete series on dvd for xmas & I watched all eight games in three days. There I was, screaming at the tv at a hockey game that was played before I was even born. To this day, the most emotional & bitter sporting event I've ever seen. It was insane on disc, I can only imagine what it must have been like to watch as it happened.

But who would they dump for such a guy? And who's on the market?

Bah, that's garbage. Philly is one of the top ten teams in the league, and you lost a tough game to one of the top five teams in the league. Not Philly's best performance, but in an 82-game season, you're going to have a few dips. Now the Caps are on the mid-season bubble; we're playing better now, but we're going to need a lot more of it to recover from that massive slump following the hot start.

But there's lots of season left... plenty of time for teams to get hot (or cold), then turn it around, and then maybe even turn it around again.

Same here. That was some awesome hockey history for the uninitiated like me. I didn't know about the replay on Sunday, thanks for that. I'll set the DVR.

Besides the Russians, I like watching the teams from Finland and the Czech Republic. They have great passion for the game.

It isn't that it's a signature move thing. To me, it's about taking up for your teammates, just like with what Artem Aseminov did with the rifle shot at the goalie. When you call out a single player on the other team like that, you need to be prepared for consequences.

And as far as fella's that skated away from a fight, the Rangers did plenty of that yesterday with the likes of Dubinsky and Callahan.

Great game though, sloppy because of the conditions, but great. Personally, I'd love to be able to take a trip and see one of these things before they're gone.

I make that assessment with the current streak in mind. I'm not sure what the record is for the end of December heading into the New Year,...but I'm pretty sure they are at or below .500.

I also say "Right Now". Plenty of time to get going in the right direction,...but at the moment they are getting average net minding from at least one goalie that is touted as an elite (not to mention a heavy price paid for him in the offseason) and one goalie that I know is capable of being very very good. Goaltending is going to need to be playing confidently and consistently in order to get out of the 1st round of the Playoffs.

Defense is poor and that is contributing to it. Brad Richards needed to be nullified on the GWG and G who is usually pretty responsible in his own end got caught too low.

The offense is there,...but they aren't picking apart D like they were early in the season.

I just really don't like loosing to the Rags and so far,...the Flyers are o-3 this year. Credit where credit is due,...The Rangers are play really really good hockey right now. Hank is getting the goal support he needs to win games. Lundqvist has been a thorn in the Flyers' side for a number of years now.

On the plus side it was nice to see Brayden Schenn get his first goal as a Flyer (and I think his career).

I can still remember watching game 8. I just turned 13.

I have to get that series on DVD, thanks for the reminder that it's available.

That is going to be the best game of the tournament. From my experience, the World Jrs is bigger in Canada than the NHL is.

Now we have refs going out of NHL games with concussion symptoms. A linesman in the DET/DAL game went down for the night.

Speaking of that game, Jimmy Howard looks dull tonight. Good thing the Detroit offense is propping him up.
