Yeah, and Jonathan Quick is playing the best goaltender position in the league right now.
Yup. JQ is playing very solid, and he's getting great help in front of the net from the King's D...and a couple of very lucky breaks.
Come home just in time to see Hartnell get his second goal of the night. The Flyers boards must be melting down from the haters on there.
There goes Pronger for a couple of weeks from what I've heard. Pronger's tough as nails, and I knew it was bad when you could hear him scream. Not good.
Yeah,...that one (on Pronger) was bad and can't really fault Gabrovski on the follow through,..but damn,...and inordinate amount of high sticks in that game, to the point that I was wondering how many of them were actually inadvertent and was surprised that this game didn't turn into a powder keg (even both goalies got sticks to the head).
Flyers kept their composure and got the win. They stayed really disciplined and they need to keep that up (Coburn stayed out of the box GASP).
Glad to see Jagr get his first two. That guy has an infectious attitude,...I've always liked him,...but now that I get to see him regularly,...I like him that much more. He always seems to have a grin ear to ear.
Hartnell was aggressive tonight and that's when he succeeds,...glad to see him get two as well.
EDIT: Official word on Pronger is they are going to monitor him over the next 3-4 days and although he hasn't said it outright,...I think we may see a visor on Pronger from now on (Homer my force him to wear one??? *shrugs). He is cut above the eye,...they don't know if there is any damage behind the eye. I'm sure he is going to experience enough swelling to keep him out of action. They are talking about being gone for 10-14 days.

Going to have to watch the "tape" of the game now to see the Pronger incident. Reading stuff on the Flyers discussion boards and of course it's all speculation. Nothing official yet from the Flyers.
He went down middle of the 1st. No penalty called as it was on the follow through of an attempted shot by Grabrovski.

Caps suffered their first loss of the season last night to a young, sharp-looking Edmonton squad. The Oilers have some incredible talent in their young trio of Eberle, Hall, and Nugent-Hopkins, and if they can put a few veteran pieces around them with some solid role players, they're going to a be a force in the West.
The officiating was absolutely terrible. The Caps took 9 penalties in the first two periods, only about half of which were earned. At one point (on the penalty kill, no less), there were two Oiler defensemen literally laying on Vokoun with no goalie interference call. Still, the Caps had many good scoring chances, and they could certainly have won the game if not for some great play by Khabibulin. He was a monster in net, and definitely saved the game for the Oilers. Vokoun played very well, and only gave up two power-play goals.
Next game is Saturday against a struggling Vancouver team... hopefully the Caps don't come up empty on their first road trip!

Well, the Flyers/Jets game was one of the oddest I've seen for awhile. Bobrovsky was chased after giving up 5 goals on something like 15 shots. Bryzgalov comes in and gives up 4 more. Final was 9-8 Winnipeg.
Jets gave up 4-goal leads on several occasions and the Flyers actually let by a goal fairly late, but blew it. I've never seen so many giveaways; failure to clear their own zone; etc. And how many times in the past few years has Kimmo Timonen iced the puck when one more (uncontested) stride would have put him at the red line?!

I only caught the third period of that mess last night and deleted it from my DVR without watching it. The look I saw from Laviolette in the third was horrifying. He had the look that he had no idea who those players were on the ice, what they were doing, and that he was sure as ____ going to find out when they got back in that locker room. Likely was having thoughts about having them back out on the ice doing bag skates and suicides until they were all puking their guts out afterwards.
We went downstairs to jam just after Philly made it 6-3. Came back upstairs for a break & it was 8-7 Jets. Just friggin goofy.

Despite last night's game (which, from an impartial fan's perspective, was a lot of fun to watch!), I still think Philly will be one of the last teams standing in the East. They're obviously still working out a few kinks for the time being though...
The Bruins are having trouble putting the puck in the net - they are getting chances but not burying them. In fact, the lone Bruin goal last night was actually scored by a Canadian who won a faceoff in his zone and managed to draw it through Price's 5 hole!
Goaltending and defense have been fine. It looks like a case of "we can turn it on for the playoffs," the only problem is that the way they are going, they won't make the playoffs.

Bryzgalov blamed himself for the defeat, calling it the low point of his career.
"I have zero confidence in myself right now," he said. "I am terrible. (The offense) scores eight goals and we are still losing. It's obviously a terrible goalie and that's me.
"I am the reason we lost the game tonight. I am lost in the woods right now."
A well-needed bounceback win for the Flyers (5-1) over Carolina. Jagr had two goals; Giroux had 4 points (1 goal/3 assists); Hartnell and Talbot had one each. Bryzgalov looked good. He didn't have a chance on the one goal that Carolina scored because Hartnell knocked him over just before the shot. They definitely needed a game like that.
Brian Boucher took the loss for Carolina. He looked good the first two periods, but things went South for him in the 3rd.
