That third period for the Flyers last night was a thing of beauty! Bryzgalov looked sharper as the game wore on and would have had a shutout were it not for Hartnell taking him out. Superb effort by the Flyers in that third.

You guys hear about this one? When I heard Thornton call the Rangers "soft" multiple times in the post-game interview I was shocked. Apparently he later tried to clarify his comment.

I believe Stan Fischler was the one interviewing Thornton, and the tone of his voice after the comment was very telling.

Anyone see that Caps comeback last night? Anaheim was shredding the Caps defense; they were up 3-0 halfway through the second period. But the Caps rallied back, with Backstrom tying the game at 4 with just 42 seconds to go in the 3rd. Backstrom ended up winning it for the Caps in OT about 3 minutes in.
Good to see the Caps get a win after dropping those two games on the road, and even more than that, it's nice to know that the Caps have the guts to pull out a win after being down 3-0. Hopefully they remember that grit when the playoffs come 'round...

Leafs vs NJ tonight, battle of my two favorite teams. Lots of questions about who is playing goal for both teams tonight and I think who plays makes all the difference. If Brodeur plays and Reimer doesn't, the game goes to NJ, if only Reimer plays it is the Leafs game, if neither or both play, it is anyone's game.

Heard they did it with Ovechkin on the bench which has caused a rift between him and Boudreau. They talked about it during the Flyers game on Versus tonight.
And speaking of the Flyers / Sabres game... Miller looks kind of somber and lonely sitting at the end of the bench after being chased 6:23 into the first on 3 goals on 12 shots!
Now if the Flyers will stop the parade to the penalty box to make the game a little less interesting please?

Nope, if Reimer doesn't play again soon, they really need to start playing Scrivens. Good thing that their offense is so hot that they can win without a goalie.

IMO the media is making way more of this than there actually is. Boudreau put in the hot line (3rd line) and Backstrom as the fourth attacker. Sure, he could have put Ovi in, but the 3rd line earned their ice time, and Ovi wasn't having the best game. Boudreau's decision paid off, and Ovi got the primary assist on the game-winning goal in OT.
I like Ovi a lot, but I'm not in favor of playing any player on reputation alone. He and everyone else in the world should know and respect that the players who are playing the best get the critical ice time. I'm sure he was bummed to not get the call, but my guess is that he gets over it and comes out strong for the next game or two.
Saw an interview with Ovechkin and he seems to get it so you're probably correct that the media is putting more into it than is there.
Now, I know it's early in the season, and I see Pittsburgh, Washington and Philly at the top of the East as is usual lately, but what the heck are Toronto, Ottawa, Florida, Carolina, and Buffalo doing up there? Boston way at the bottom. Hello, what's going on here?

Same thing's happening out west too: Edmonton is leading their division after being one of the worst teams in the league last year, Colorado is making huge strides, and Minnesota even looks tough. Then you've got Vancouver barely in the top 8 and Detroit way down in the standings alongside Nashville, Anaheim, and San Jose, all of whom made the playoffs last year.

I actually felt sorry for the Blue Jackets tonight. The Flyers were up 8-0. Final score ended up at 9-2. Seemed like the Flyers backed off a bit after the 8-0 lead so as not to rub it in.
I was looking forward to this game when I saw the schedule because Jeff Carter would be returning to Philly for the first time. But he wasn't able to play. Columbus only has two wins so far this season...

5-0 after the 1st period, 8-0 after the 2nd. I'm surprised the game didn't get super ugly.

Pens win another one on the west coast a couple nights ago. I listened to it on the Pens Android app. Really, I am digging the radio broadcast more than TV, and it's free. Next game is in like three weeks. Here we go with these long breaks again!

Lame first period in Tampa with the fans suffering while two ignorant coaches get stuck in a staredown. Yeah, Bouchers trap sucks, but Laviolette was no better trying to wait it out.

Strange game in TB tonight. Laviolette is calling out Boucher's system big time. Tampa isn't even forechecking and the Flyers are stalling. Fans are booing LOUDLY! Interesting comments from the studio announcing crew during the first intermission.
