November 2010. Marchand is skating around with something that resembled a lack of purpose, and getting more penalties than points, and he was being discussed on 98.5 The Sports Hub here in Boston. One of the callers got a little animated and said "I don't like Marchmont, I don't even know whay he's on the team..."

98.5 ended up using that clip fairly often whenever Marchand was being discussed and Felger and Mazz ended up just referring to him as Marchmont after than.

So, flash forward to late last season and the same guy calls in admits he was wrong, but he gets rather canonized for being the creator of Marchmont.

But Marchand hates the name, so I use it sparingly.

So no, it wasn't the 18 years I've spent in the U.S. education system failing me. ;)

Anyway, Ritch Pevurli is out 4-6 weeks with a third degree MCL sprain. :hmm:

Nashville makes a big move by trading away homegrown hero Blake Geoffrion for Hal Gill of the Canadiens. The move makes one thing very clear: they are making it an all or nothing year, and they are very intent on keeping both big name guys in town.

I just heard about Peverly on TSN. That one hurts. The speculation here was Chiarelli would make a play for Nash, but maybe not now and seek to find a couple guys to plug in.

Rumor was Hal Gill, but that went bye bye when he took out Peverly, and now Gill landed in Nashville.

As for the Pens, if they think Crosby is coming back, I figure they will not do much. If they think Crosby is out for the year, I suspect they get someone to help Malkin. While he has been on a tear, Malkin can't keep it up. Neal has already cooled off from his hot streak. Maybe Staal will turn it on now.

I don't see the Pens doing anything in free agency unless someone offers them a sweet, sweet deal. The 'Guins are playing extremely well for all of the injuries they've had, Malkin and Neal are both playing on other planets. I don't see their management doing anything to upset the balance they've struck... just seems too risky.

I'd LOVE to see the Caps make some moves... I don't even know what they need, other than good ol' veteran leadership and locker room stability.

Good game brewing in New Jersey. After two, the Devils are up 2-1. Parros beat up on Boulton and the entire game has been physical. Come on Ducks!!!!

I should have mentioned this sooner.....Center Ice has a free preview until the 19th.

Big hitter too when the opportunity presents itself. Stay at home guy. Makes smart plays with the puck in his own zone. Solid move by Homer. Not great, but solid. Didn't give away any major piece.

Did notice that when G gets away from Jagr... WOW!!! 5 point night! Hartnell too. I'm thinking Jagr is getting too slow.

He brings size and nasty to the table, which is something we've been lacking since SO'B left. I think the move makes us a pretty solid contender this year, and if you leave an underdog in a game or series for too long, you're going to get burned.

Suter and Weber both seem appreciative of the trade. Their initial reactions are good, which bodes well come contract re-up time. Their biggest criticisms with the team were feeling like we weren't willing to spend enough to win, and I'm hoping Fisher, Rinne's big contract, and the trade will change their mind's. Weber is here for at least one more year as an RFA, so we get to keep him unless he takes an offer sheet somewhere else, but at his contract price, we fetch 4 first round picks for him, so I don't think teams are going to try and take him from us. Suter is different as a UFA, but I think if DP plays his cards right at the end of the year, they will both re-sign.

That was a great game to watch. Good job to the Wing's for doing what they had to, with key injuries no less, to keep the streak alive. Hope you guys add a few more to it now, honestly.

Jets were 0-9 for the season in the second half of back-to-backs until beating Boston last night. (these Jet-Bruin games are always a conflict of interest for me...)

Blake Wheeler is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with, much to the Bruins' chagrin, I'm sure.

Yeah jagr is slow, but when he is healthy watching him muscle the puck around and his give and gos are great. Plus hes smart and a veteran, he just needs to get completely healthy. I just hope everyone starts to bring it all together and we got a chance, but we need guys healthy and motivated.

The Jets played well (the B's pregame hosts were saying how they thought the Jets have a good chance of making the playoffs).

The B's had more energy in the Montreal game which was the second of a back-to-back and it seemed to catch up to them against the Jets which was the third in four days.

It is good to see Wheeler do well - we got Peverley in return so the B's can't complain too much.

The whole Jets team is getting better and better. They've got a ton of really solid talent, but I still think they need a real leading man to bring it all together. Pavelec is good enough to take them deep into the playoffs; I think they just need one more guy to pull it all together.

I'm looking forward them getting 'realigned' to the West so Washington doesn't have to play them as often in the coming years... I think they're going to be really tough.

We definitely need a goal scorer. We make many, many mistakes each game that is simply due to a lack of skill. Bad passes, poor puck handling, bad decisions, etc. We are relatively deep on D, so im hoping we can move one at the deadline for a sniper of sorts. I can see Oduya being moved to a contender. He is a great skater and moves the puck well. You heard it here first......
