Lazarus.Bird said:Well the officiating in this game went downhill fast.

Whatever the number, it's long enough ago that I can barely remember. It's a good feeling to beat the cross state rival so handily, especially since it doesn't happen often.
The two Jagr goals were sweet, but he seemed to disappear after that. I hope he isn't hiding an injury.
I thought Fleury played a great game. The third goal was on Engelland mostly.

Kubina is a Flyer!

Lightning now have tons of 2nd rounders. Do these picks often materialize into anything? Or is it like the NBA where if you are out of the top 10 you're getting a role player?
Good lord, I'm sick of Detroit. Will this team ever go away? What's it been, a thousand years since they had a losing season? Seriously, enough is enough!

Seriously you can't argue they don't do it the right way. While a few years ago, they were the big spenders, they weren't alone then. But they've always developed good talent and made some good trades. Now they're winning limited by the Salary cap, and low draft choices.
The key is one thing, 21 seasons in the playoffs, 21 years for Nick Lidstrom. I really believe that when we look back his name will considered with Orr, Howe, Hull and Gretzky. And he does it so quietly, the right way, which is the way the Wings as a team have done it.
Hockey day in America is nice. I wish they did it every Sunday.
Amen. Today's been great for watching hockey.
Did you guys see Nick Backstrom's performance against the Bruins? He was phenomenal, including a particularly noteworthy save on Lucic that left him banging his stick on the ice. The entire Minnesota team played well against a more star-studded Boston team, and they earned the win by outworking the Bruins... great to see that out of a team that doesn't get a lot of press.
