Love my BB2, but the cover I ordered months ago hasn't arrived. I'm gigging with the cabinet now and it's in the trunk of my car. I wonder why their supplier is so backed up for neoprene covers?
I am only speculating, but I think they might have been changing to a different supplier for the covers, this summer. This is based on some conversations with Alex via email... would have to look at them again to confirm if this is true and what the specifics are.
I got a Four10 this past May. They still do not have a cover for this model yet, which is kind of astounding. I have been kind of pestering them for months trying to get one. My recollection as to the reasons they gave were that they were not satisfied with their previous supplier, so were working to get a new supplier to make the new covers (and I'd assume that they probably would therefore be shifting over their cover vendor business for other models to the new supplier as well).
Finally last month they got one in and were going to send it to me... but they presciently thought to check its fit first before sending it out, and it was not a good fit... so I did not get one.
I am told they now have an example/prototype from their new supplier of the Four10 cover and were "signing off on its measurements and attributes" or something like that, and expected to have a production run of them pretty soon once that was complete. That was maybe 10 days ago.
So, I'd guess that they might also be checking the new manufacturer's covers for fit and function for all models, and that's what the delay is. If all I have gleaned is correct, they should have covers again soon for those that they don't have standing inventory for.
FYI I am told that Barefaced doesn't make any money on the covers, they cost them about what they charge their customers, but they offer them as a service to their customers (even though an owner could order one elsewhere through a 3rd party supplier). I could have ordered a Four10 cover months ago from some company, but I did not want to be responsible for taking the measurement needed for a custom cover or have to deal with the hassle if it turned out not to fit. ... and the fact that BF had a problem with the exampl/prorotyoe that THEY measured for and ordered vindicates my decision.
Nonetheless, I have not been taking the Four10 out to gigs because I don't want to ding it, and it is a bit more prone to tipping in the back of the SUV than other BF cabs. I will be VERY happy when, finally, I get a cover for it from BF. I don't think I in any way get my $'s worth out of the cab if there is no cover for it.
