Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

I need a Club advice, guys.... I still can not dial in "my tone" with Aguilar TH500 and One10 stack. It kinda lack definition and to me it sounds sort of muddy. I still can not figure out what is the main reason for it, TH or One10? So I'm now thinking of either selling TH to buy smth cleaner sounding amp OR selling One10 (at least one of them) and buy SM to have a flat responce cab. BTW I also paired One10 stack with GK MB200, it sounds cleaner than TH but still not the way I am expecting. What do you think?
You could try either boosting mids (low and or high), or cutting a bit of bass, or both. Also, which bass are you usually playing and wit which strings? Also try setting the gain a bit lower and using the master volume higher to get a cleaner sound.

Another question: what would be louder (if it makes sense) - one SM or two One10 ?
The SM is an 8 ohm cabinet with 97db sensitivity
Each One 10 is 8 ohms with 95db sensitivity, so a pair stacked would produce a combined load of 4 ohms with 98db of sensitivity. If provided with the same power the pair of One 10s would be marginally louder.

If you are using a SS amp then your amplifier will likely output more power into a 4 ohm load than an 8 ohm load. If this is the case then this would make the pair of One 10s even louder, assuming the One 10s can safely handle the power. According to their website, the SM can take 600 watts and the pair of One 10s 500. So if your amp can run the SM at 600 watts and you run the pair of One 10s at their max of 500watts, then the two configurations would be about the same.

So the answer very much depends on your amplifier. If it produces 250 watts into 8 ohms and 500 watts into 4 ohms, then the pair of One 10s will be 4db louder. If it puts out 600 watts or more into 8 ohms and more than 500 watts into 4ohms, then running each cab configuration at its maximum power will produce essentially the same spl.

Would it be noticebly louder to the audience? Especially in a band situation?
Wouldn't running at full volume for the whole gig be a bit tiring for people's ears, and even the cab?
I would have thought it best to not really go over 80% or thereabouts potential "loudness" for extended periods.

Yeah I understand that, I mean if they are loaded relatively equal by different amps, I understand that I'll need more Watts amp for SM to get the same output at 8 Ohm compared to 4 Ohm with two One10s.

With a tube amp, no. With a powerful enough SS amp to drive both configurations to max, no. With a low power SS amp that delivers much more power into 4 ohms than 8 ohms, there will be a difference but not a huge difference.

If running it at full volume is too loud, then turn down. The OP asked how loud the two configurations could get. I can't answer that without assuming he's running them at their maximum capability.

I'll defer to Alex to provide guidance on how to interpret his spec's in this regard.

With the same power both configurations produce about the same SPL. Some amps will produce more power when connected to a 4 ohm load, but this is only relevant if you are maxing out the amp. If the amp can drive either configuration to its limit, then the SPL produced will be about the same.

I have a TH 350 but it is not really my favorite amp. It seems to sound pretty good with Aguilar cabinets, but I did not like it a great deal with the 110 particularly. However I do find that the GK amps seem to sound quite good through the Barefaced 10 inch speakers. They deliver a little more brightness than what the TH delivers which I think is a good thing when paired with the 110. I like both my MB 200 and fusion 800 through these speakers.

Also someone mentioned the PF50-T... it also sounds very good through the 10 inch speakers. In fact it seems both tube heads I have tried through them sound very very good.

If you are looking for ease of portability I would suggest a GK amp for the One10 stack, or you could use just about any tube head for great tone IMO.

Use the 110 cabs with a Mesa D800 and it sounds great. just a friendly Comment:)
I don't have a second One10 like you do, but I will absolutely agree that even a single One10 sounds great with a D800. And the volume level is really surprising as well.

Unfortunately I think my band has all but disintegrated at this point so I haven't had a chance to play it out yet (or my BB2). I'm really looking forward to get a chance to use them outside of my basement, I just wish I had an idea when that might happen. :(

The Darkglass 900 sounds very good with the One 10's.
I'm thinking of getting another One 10, because the darkglass can play on 2 ohm. So that would be a nice 3x10 stack. And i will have a little more headroom. I play with a hard hitter ;)

I made a comment to Alex about doing the 210x110 stack and he said the I would see very little difference in volume adding 1 speaker. I guess when you figure that doubling your speaker area only will net you a 3db boost, going the 3x10 route with a 2.67 load won't be worth hauling the extra cab ...Even if it IS only 15lbs!

Now a 4x1x10? There is something to be said for that! Sure your net gain is still only 3db, but it would get the top speaker closer to my 6'4" ear, and Lordy wouldn't that stack look bitchin' on stage!

I've got a BT2 en route but it was a really tough call between 2 TWO10's or the SIX10. Still am kind of wondering if that 2 TWO10 rig would be better for me but there are a lot of uneven stages during summer gigging which would've made the stack a little sketchy. I had a decent sized PA stack fall on me years ago so I'm extra cautious/nervous about tall narrow stacks.
