Might've been me saying that. I've noted that the few extra inches makes the BB2 just over the line of "bulky" for me. It's not bad, but the SC and SM slide under the wire for ease of one-handed carry. I'm also one of the only quadriplegic bassists posting here, so my limits aren't other people's limits.

Oh, I get that - and I understand completely since I have both a BB2 and a One10. :D

Don't know if you saw my response a few pages back after you first asked if anyone thought a BB2 seemed bulky. The short answer is that I think it can seem bulky for a 1x12 when you carry it, however the unusually light weight offsets it most of the time. The only time I've noticed "bulk" is when carrying it in a narrow area, especially around turns (for example, in a small hallway, on a staircase, etc.). You can go back to my post for more details, but that summarizes my opinion.

EDIT - The reason I emphasized for a 1x12 is that it's still only a 1x12 and it will therefore be smaller - and less bulky - than the majority of the multi-driver cabinets out there. So, even though it might be bigger than the average 1x12, it's still an easier carry than almost any multi-driver cab - but gets just as loud. ;)

Another thing to remember for those seeking a single cabinet solution is how the HF control works in the BBII and other such versions. It shifts the crossover point from 3K to 10K (if memory serves me) so when in the 10K position the HF driver is virtually out of the equation. I use it for blues all the time and everyone that plays through my rig loves how it sounds

Ok guys. I am researching like crazy for the proper head for my big twin 2. There is a buyer up to buy my GK 1001RB and this is a nice opportunity for me to try and search for an even better match for my BT2.

Maybe someone here can help - I like a hifi but warm and smooth tone. My main bass as you could see on the pics I posted here is my American Jazz Bass Standard with Nordstrand pickups.

I kind of like the tone of my BT2 and 1001RB2 but I found it much thinner compared to when I plugged in my friends Mesa Big Block 750 which does have a tube preamp.

I kind of regret that I sold my Genz Benz Streamliner 900 before i bought this cab just so that I could see how that would work.

Anyways, I am not a full tube sound player. I prefer the SS attack and like the tubes to just add more warmth in the mids so no overdrive or some super gain is wanted from me.

Anyways, there is a guy here selling a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0. How would that work? Any experiences with Genz Benz stuff and BF cabs? Would it be an upgrade or a downgrade from my 1001RB2?

I play mostly jazz, funk, soul and rock so I need something more refined.

The shuttle 9.0 sells at a nice price (420€ in europe) so that might be a deal.

Would I be better off with the d800 or a fusion 550? Or maybe MB800 fusion?

Weight to me doesn't really matter for amps, I just want a good tone.

OTOH, esse music in italy has a fusion 550 for sale at 980€, which is also a great deal.

Speaking about the finish of the BF enclosures. Is 12" painted boxes tend to be more durable than 10" vinyl finished? Asking cause I saw some picture of the Two10 listed on basschat UK with the edges of vinyl coming off the plywood. And another signal about the same issue a while after that in different source. Has anybody came cross to this already?

Hi - I've edited some of your original post for the the things that stood out to me.

I have a BT2 & if warm is what you're after, I use an Ashdown ABM 500.
Warmth for days even to the point where I have to back off the bass control a tad.
I also use a DG M900 with it which is an entirely different story in good way.

Basically the best thing I can suggest is to audition the amps you've mentioned above with your cab - what's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander ..

Thanks. I agree with trying out the amps but in this case I would have to drive something close to around 1000km (621.371192 miles) to try them all out which is a bit too much really...

I will definitely be able to AB all the GK amps and D800 in the same store (if I am lucky and they didn't sell the D800 yet) though.

Edit: Anyways, I guess GK is really what I need since I like the smoothness they give but dislike the harshness of the RB1001 sometimes. Perhaps the fusion series do smooth out the top end a bit at least this is my hope. I like to have that sizzle when I want to.

Can't speak for the vynl, but painted finish is pretty durable, small marks can be touched up with an indelible felt tip pen and disappear.

I had the MB800 first and still like it, the D800 is about 6 months old. I haven't had the mb800 out the house since I got the D800. The MB800 is a bit harsh in the upper mids by comparison, but it can be tamed. The D800 seems to have more "girth" to the sound, it's difficult to put in words, it punches through the mix better, and retains definition, without being too bright or harsh. It also seems cleaner, noticable when slapping. I haven't maxed either to see which is loudest, both are more than adequate for me. The mb200 is a spare, and is brilliant for it's size, you can feel it compressing compared to the mb800. My first D800 died 15 mins into the first gig and the mb200 saved me. I got a new replacement D800 and it has been fine. Wondered about the D800+ when it came out, but mostly I have the eq centred, bass cut to 10 oclock sometimes if i'm in a boomy small room. Voicing about 10 oclock, so I don't need the d800+ although the HPF would be useful. Handy having the 2 ohm switch to limit the power when i'm using it with the crazy 8. So liking the D800 and happy with the sound through to BB2 and crazy 8. I have the BB2 horn attenuator backed off slighty to 12 oclock.

I am debating between these two cabs. (4-string with flats.) Would you say the Super Twin is fast enough compared to the Big Baby for the style of music you play?

I play funk on a 5 with rounds and find the response fast enough for my liking. The Big Baby definitely had a "brighter" "default" tone, though, if that's what you're after. I always turned the horns all the way down on my previous cabs and noticed that I preferred it that way even with the Barefaced. So, when I upgraded to a 212 I naturally went with the tweeter-less option.

I use a Carvin B1500 with a (rack mounted) DMX compressor unit through my BT2 and it sounds great. I've also used the Mesa Prodigy with it and it sounds great as well. The Carvin is the best SS amp I've used, also the heaviest.

Yeah I am also intrigued about the Carvins... unfortunately bass carvin amps in europe get sold once in every second century or so... :p

Perhaps one day I might be able to grab one. :)
