Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

A little observation. Today I A/B my One10 and SM with the same amps at the same settings (Aguilar TH350 and Quilter BB800). Surprisingly they had similar output in terms of both low end and overall volume. SM has more definition and clarity but One10 can easily hold the same output as SM and lack nothing in terms of bottom at least it was my perception. But as I prefer the tone of BF 10" drivers, I'd rather pickup another One10 or Two10. So my SM will possibly be up for grabs soon. I just prefer the inherent tone of my One10 more.

Interesting, I would have thought that the SM would have nearly twice the output of the One 10. I had a One 10 for a little while, and while it sounded good it wasn't anywhere near any of my 1x12's as far as output...nor did I expect it to be.

Just looking at the numbers, the SM and the Two10 should be very close, with the SM being capable of a bit more output.

Wow, you look a lot different in that picture, compared to your avatar. Losing the beard must have made a big difference. :D

It would be an ironic juxtaposition if you had a beard/mustache while wearing that hat. Your photo neatly leaves this to the imagination. ;)
WELL played!

Again, these were home tests and the perceived volume was very close. But it yet to be proved in a band setting which may deliver different results.

The only way to honestly know is using the cab on a gig with other instruments. Home testing is fun and all. But really everything changes in an instant the minute a band starts. Even playing to a track at home is very different that a LIVE gig where there ya have ambient sound reflections..

I would like to hear any comparison with eth BF SuperTwin to the other 2x12 type cabs like Bergantinos (with tweeter turned off) ect.

Fully agree. That's why I emphasized on the word "perceived". But I'm afraid both my SM and One10 can not compete with our drummer and two loud guitarists on stage. Been there with SM and unless it stands on the floor it would not cut through.

Do it! You absolutely can daisy-chain two One10s to an MB200, even though it only has one speaker out on the head - daisy-chains are parallel, not series, so the head will see a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.

Very simplistically, more speakers makes it EASIER on the head at a given volume, not harder! 200W will do plenty through 2 One10s.

And, most amps full power rating is at 4ohms.

So likely (without looking) your amp is putting out something like:
140w @ 8ohms
200w @ 4ohms

Which is another reason why adding a speaker makes you louder. Instead of 1 speaker at 140w, you have 2 speakers at 100w each.

SM is a small cab..BF claims about as loud as many 210 cabs?
I hate to assume.. But I would assume that a Super Compact would deliver more?
I liked the idea of the Big Baby 2 but in reality I feel i may be at ho,e with a Super Twin.
I've READ but never played in real life a ST. .. It says its upper top is at 4k.. But from what i read that goes up higher and has more clarity than many other non tweeter type cabs. Possibly due to the speakers center hard dust cover??

Anyone go from a Super Compact to a Two10, or the opposite?

I love the Super Compact, but the more I play it the more I think the vintage coloration of the ten inch speakers would be a better fit for me.

How exactly do the ten inch speakers change the tone? A little warmer in the lows, less pronounced highs? Another advantage is the Two10 being 4ohms which would maximize my amp (Mesa Subway D800).

I ended up emailing them to find out when my cab was shipping.. apparently they are currently waiting on a shipment of covers from Scotland, and Scotland has been getting buried under snow since the beginning of March, so the factory had to shutdown for a bit. They are hoping to have them next week and to be able to ship my cab soon after. I have a friend who moved to Scotland with her husband a coupl years ago and she recently posted on Facebook how they have been getting HAMMERED with snow and are not equipped to deal with it.

Had both the SC and 210. Equally loud, for my needs. The SC is nice, but the 210 is generally nicer, if you want to just go bass>amp>cab. I landed on a BB2, because I double up doing synth. I actually have two BB2 cabs which I'll be using as a PA (first rehearsal is in a few hours).

Edit - I wouldn't worry about the 8/4 Ohm volume difference. I think the volume difference is probably negligible. The 210 adds some warmth, and if you push it hard, you'll get intended speaker distortion. The top end isn't as cutting as the SC, and the low mid and upper bass frequencies get a bump.

I started out with a One10, bought a second One10. Wasn't as satisfied as I'd hoped, so I went for an SC and now am happy, happy, happy. Had to sell one One10 to finance the SC. The One10 is perfect for rehearsals (even with a 6 piece band) and small coffeehouse/duo gigs, SC cover pretty much covers everything else. Might buy a second SC in the future.

To me there is a huge sonic difference between the two cabs/drivers. The One10 does add some hair to your sound if you give it some wattage, the SC is smoother than your granddaddy's scalp all the time, and gives no sign of a top end on headroom.

I love them both.

Interesting...

I like the top end to come through a bit, helps me hear myself on stage and I think it helps in the overall mix as well. I've found that I can push the SC quite a bit, and the overall volume is more than enough for the band setting.

Perhaps it would be better to save some money and keep my gas in check.

Or snag a DSM Omnicab Sim Deluxe, and you can mimic some of the 210 characteristics when using the SC.
