I've considered getting the BT3 for exactly the same reason. I almost never have FOH support and for the sake of simplicity I find the thought of rolling in one larger cabinet preferable to carrying in two smaller ones, with the only caveat being that with 2 BB3 cabs, I could have one pointed at the drummer (who loves that). 1st world decisions : )
A fair assessment.
I like the 'taller ' rig so I can hear what I am playing. If I ran just one cab I'd probably need a BackBeat to feel it. FOH is carrying the venue, I like the rig to fully carry the stage (less bass in the wedges and IEMs allows more room for vox/BGV and guitars).
Open forum, open mind…and open to more thoughts and ideas.
Of course, those 6x10 and 8x10 beasts are also nibbling at my curiosity…the whole "effyou I'm here mofos" presence.
And a fair answer, that addresses the questions. A BackBeat would be less expensive but given those choices, I'd strongly prefer either the BB3's you have now or a BT3 to a BackBeat.
And that adds additional info. I've never played through a Six10 or an Eight10 (would love too, though!
) but, if you want that kind of presence on stage, then I suspect even the BT3 might fall short? But if Alex is aware that you're looking, he would be the right person to help you decide if either is a better enough choice for you to be worth the steep price ($1900 and $2800 USD, yikes!). I certainly would love to play with a Six10 behind me, but I can't imagine ever playing a gig where I'd need it (based on my personal playing situations, not making any assumptions about yours).

Keep in mind it takes 25 hours or so at full band volume for cab to "open up". That's been my experience. Mine sounded tight and compressed and then it's just blossomed.
Interesting. I'd never heard that. Is there anything about that on the Barefaced website?
It might not be there now, but I think it was alluded to if not directly stated on a previous version of the website (unless I'm victim of the Mandela Effect). It's been discussed occasionally over the years. I'm not sure how much is physically breaking in versus ears adjusting, though it's possibly a combination of both.
Well, apart from plugging it in at lower-than-band volume and comparing it to a couple other cabs tomorrow, it's going to get its first workout at a gig on Friday. I hope it sounds decent. I'm going to be upset if it doesn't sound good.
I wouldn't worry about it not sounding good, particularly if you're getting sounds you like already. I think it's more of a fine tuning thing than any radical change.

I'm getting sounds I like now from my Mesa or GK amps and my Phil Jones cabs. I haven't yet plugged in my new BB3.
I had a proper scare when I first played mine - was pretty much straight to the show upon arrival aside from plugging an amp in at home to make sure a sound came out.
I was really put off during our sound check and felt I had keep adjusting EQ to hear myself. The cab was used for backline by the first band, and the bass tone was changing throughout their set despite the bassist not adjusting anything. By the time our first song started it was great. Got a *lot* of compliments with the cab on tour last year as well for my tone.
My advice, play it hard before you gig!
