It's here! Let me say that I am just blown away by the thing, too!
You know first impressons are the most lasting and upon opening the cardboard box I first noticed how nice the case was. I was expecting some cheap-o case with an Elrick logo on it, but what I got was so much better. It was a very nice Access brand case that has some serious "leather" coveringon the outside, very nice all the way through.
Next comes the bass. Amazing. Discussion over. .

Truly amazing. The bass was flawless from top to bottom, not a flaw anywhere. I think that it should weigh in around 7.75 pounds. I just took ten minutes to carefully inspect the entire, just holding and stroking.........ok I'm back. Seriously, this bass feels so natural and alive, very much different from every other bass I've ever had the pleasure to play.
I then played the bass unplugged to check how it reacted and here again a perfect 10. Very articulate and clear, action was perfect and you could "feel" the sound.
The plugged in sound was mind blowing, very even and very useful tones in there. I had Rob drop in the Bart NTMB last minute and I am very impressed. Very musical and very fast.

oh well, internet is on the blitz and I am away from home. I'll pick this up later and post some better pics.

Nice bass, Majestic. Interesting dot placement (not Rob's different take and none at 24)- you don't many Elricks with dots. Bet it sounds killer. How does the Hercules stand work with it- does the body touch the ground at all? I haven't tried that model before.

Mr Majestic is away and not able to get to a computer. On the phone with him right now and he says the dot placement is stadard with two at 24 & 12.

Am I the only one that doesn't see them on the 24th fret? :D

Rob's told me in the past that his standard is this:
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I wonder if he switched back to a more standard dot layout.

Hey all,
I just wanted to say I have my first Elrick on its' way this week. I got it from a fellow TB'er and I am totally stoked!!!! :hyper::hyper: I really hope I like it. I know It's plain, but I am having a wenge ramp built to help with the straight ash look.

Peace,
Chris

Question to all.

My Elrick is shown above and while I love it, I am wanting to have a top put on it by a local luthier. I would like to know what you all think I should put on there. I am completely undecided and almost every option is available. Please let me know your thoughts.

Peace,
Chris

The Elrick soapbars are not custom- they're production models. BUT- that doesn't mean they're all the same models. Bart makes several different tones of soapbars- my 5-string fretted has the CB-style soapbars, while another one of my Elricks with soapbars had different models in them. The preamp is the standard Bart NTMB (or Aggie OBP-3).

Interestingly, his Bart XJ coils used on both of my Elricks are special made for Rob. This is per a conversation I had with him shortly after taking delivery of my fretted five in October of '05. Cheers. :)

Maybe they all are now then. Back in 03, at least the soapbars were off-the-shelf, but it would be interesting if they were all now custom-made for him ala the Barts in Zon basses.
