ahh yeah it’s there. i guess the pearl inlay isnt as vivid on a white background compared to a darker colored guitar

Hey everyone! Thinking about buying a used Viper 414 for €300. What's the verdict on that bass? What are the pickups like? Is the pre-amp good? I always regretted not getting one when they were on the market.

My ESP Ltd vintage 214 with a ESP J-204 neck. I'm a p bass guy but I prefer jazz necks. With my Fenders it's easy to do cause you can get parts everywhere online. Esp don't have parts available like that. I got the neck from a esp vintage j-204 jazz bass from GC. I won't say what I did but onto the next mods. I removed the black pickguard and installed a tortoise shell one. To make it fit properly I had to carefully and properly drill 3 new holes in the body cavity so I can screw it in. I also had to remove a half inch of material on the pickguard around the neck area. Dunlop strap locks, EMG active pickups to complete it.

Drop a set of Lace Man-o-War pups in this baby and put her in front of a GK 800RB and she really sizzles in a thrash/punk setting.

I'm looking to add a 5-string bass to the family and am considering an LTD B-155DX in Honey Natural. It's on clearance for $359. Sounds like a good deal. Any thoughts/opinions on this model? Thanks alot.

It's last year's model, hence the clearance. I haven't seen a ton of reviews, but from what I have read, people seem to have liked them.

My Esp Ltd vintage 214. This is FAR from being bone stock. Parts are impossible to find for these ESP basses so I had to use so,e Fender stuff and modify it to fit. It originally came with a black pickguard. I changed it to a tortoise shell and had to use a fender p bass guard. Right around the neck area I had to shave/file down about a half inch off the guard to make it fit. Also out of the 13 screw holes 11 matched the holes in the body. The other 2 were off by far so I simply and carefully drilled a couple holes in the body to make it fit. I removed to stock PJ pickups and installed Active EMG pickups. Also had to get different vol/tone knobs to fit the shaft. Dunlop strap locks were also added.

Most importantly I swapped the neck. I have all Precision basses but I prefer jazz necks. This bass came stock with 42mm nut width wide ass neck. It was a slim U profile and felt nice but not for my liking. Esp Is not like Fender where you can go on eBay and find any neck you want. The only other neck that would fit this bass is the Esp Ltd vintage J204 neck which is the jazz bass version. I didn't wanna buy a whole bass for $350 when I just needed the neck. Guitar center has a nice 45 day return " satisfication " policy and I used that to my advantage. I found one J204 jazz bass that was in like new condition. I bought it, recieved it within 5 days and as soon as it got to my house I swapped the necks. I put everything back together and returned the J204. Somebody bought the bass within 2 days time. The must be happy because it hasn't been returned nor up on the website. So I ended up with a slimmer Esp ltd jazz neck. It's truly a PJ bass. I doubt there's any out there like it.

Not to sure if I'm going to update the bridge or not. I probably will because I prefer high mass bridges and yes they do make a difference in tone.

I have an 8-String on my radar toward the end of the year, and am leaning heavily toward this B-208SM Natural Satin. According to ESP's website, it's new for 2018. Replacing the B-208FM? I haven't seen these for sale anywhere except just their website. Looks great.

Has anyone replaced the control knobs on their LTD B206SM bass? The stock ones are nice, but I was thinking some knobs with a blue pearl top to match the inlays might be nice. Does anyone know what the sizes needed are? I'm looking at allparts, strewmac, etc., and am not sure what to get.

I contacted ESP and was told dome knobs with a 2mm screw and the pots are split shaft. That's good, but doesn't really give me all the info I need. I contacted them again and am waiting to hear back.

They will fit on split shaft CTS pot if you mean the volume and blend knobs...The little EQ knobs are actually just a tad bit smaller and do not fit very well on split shaft CTS. You have to crunch the shaft a little to make them fit. These were on my B205SM...pretty sure the pots are the same as the 206. I took the knobs off my 205 and put a them on my strat that has CTS pots.

If you have the stock pots, just about anything should fit on those mini pots LTD uses ...They seem a tad smaller than CTS.
