WHOOPS sorry about that. I changed @Mosfed's number to 14 to do this right.

Aw man....

I'm going to spend some quality time with my H9 tomorrow (well, technically later today...). Goal: some good low pass filters, ideally envelope and expression pedal controlled. I'm still thrilled about the unit.

Some of us here on TB have created a Dropbox for H9/Factor series presets. PM me your e-mail if you would like to be added.

Hi Folks,

I guess I'll take a number though I"m not a numbers guy. New and happy H9 owner.

For those of you using H9s, what are you powering them with? The adapter, or something else? And are you using aux buttons or just the pedal and an expression controller?

Welcome, @JES!

To answer your questions, I am powering with the 12V/400 mA outlets on a Pedal Power Mondo, and I doing all expression and aux commands via MIDI.

Initial impressions through headphones: the crunch station is very geared toward guitar. You can get ok bass tones out of it but I'm not yet in love. It can do a muff-like fuzz, as well as a synthy-gated fuzz, both of which can offer a lot of low end, though it's almost all at the right end of the bass dial. The lower-gain OD (think TS808 clones for bass) need a lot of tweaking in the EQ and/or volume to sound full. The parametric mid is super-useful, though, so I have hope. I just tried it through headphones, will try with an amp later, as that's when I'll really know what is possible. I'll also try cloning pedal sounds directly to see if I can match them up more evenly.

I tend to agree with you, the heavier fuzz sounds are a lot of fun, the the OD settings leave a lot to be desired on bass. Would love to see some settings if you are able to get anything usable in that area.

However, on guitar, it is a very nice addition.

@VSR and @nshuman and others that might have the Pitchfactor algorithms on the H9, can anyone tell me, from their experience, how does the Pitchfactor, HOG and M9 compare in terms of tracking? (taking high speed and low notes like low B)
Do you guys like the Synth algorithm?

Another thing, I cannot find in the manual, does the factor series allow for effects loop using In2/Out2 like the H9 does now?

I've seen some reviews but since I found a somewhat nice deal on a PF and I wanted to hear some of your opinions before I go and test it.

@Adamixoye did a shootout with some similar pedals. He would be the one to ask. Also, @sillyfabe .

Here's the shootout:

The synth on the PF is okay but it's not really a "bass synth." I use it for flute sounds on guitar, and it can make some weird bass sounds. With the right tweaking maybe you can get something better out of it, but I wouldn't consider that a major selling point, more of a thing to have fun with.

It's my understanding that they are going to have a firmware update for the Factor pedals in the next month or two that will do the pre-/post-routing thing.
