Official Joyo Club Part 2: Beyond Thunderclone

I've been playing with my Ultimate Drive again. It's very dynamic and responsive and the quality of the overdrive component is very good. But it's a little bass light and it's tonality just doesn't have a wow factor for me. So I played with some input EQ on my bass and I got some really ice sounds out of it. I max mid scooped at about 400hz and added about 6db of bass too. I really liked that sound. So I then set the bass EQ flat and dialled in the same settings onto my MXR preamp and popped it after the UD. Now there's a sound I REALLY like! So as I though before, this pedal could really do with some nice post EQ. I'm thinking of adding a 2 band (bass and mid) circuit in there. There's space in the battery cavity for a small vero strip and a pair of pots.

Cannot wait to hear reports on the flanger.
just got it and it's awesome. it sounds just like a vintage MXR M117 to me. I paid $35 shipped (it came from a dealer in the USA) and it arrived in two days.
IMO, it's definitely the best value in a flanger, period. sounds great with a bass and it's also true bypass.

Thats the white flanger with the jet on it right? I just got that a few days ago too. Whats a good setting your using so i can try it. So far im not digging it. But the Regen and Delay Time knobs effect each other so much maybe i havent found a good setting.

I own a boss bass flanger, have played with the regular bf2, and also have a dod fx 75c flanger. Maybe this mxr clone just has a totally differnt flanger approach but it sounds too high pitch and whiney to me. I cant really get it to do a huge jet sweep either. Does it maybe have trimpots i might need to adjust?

yep. the white one.
even high end flangers generally don't have a lot of effect with a bass because of the lower harmonics. if you add some slight grit or even some heavy distortion before it, you'll get a much clearer idea of what it's doing.
Right on. Yeah so far i just tested it out going into my mxr bass di and into my interface since i got the package and havent had a chance to try it out through my rig. I tried it out on guitar as well and same issue just sounds really thin to me or too whiney. Ill finally have a chance to try it out for real tomorrow. Surprisingly the Digital Delay i got of theres is doing the same thing when i reach oscillating territory.

Thanks for the input. So your saying i should pop in the UD before it? ;) was only inevitable haha
