well.....I did not "order" those.....those were "in stock - take it as is".....I do agree that I am the first owner though....sorry about your Glaub...I KNEW you would miss that one!!!!

I want to "custom order" one someday.....

yeah, Leo told me that the guys in the back wouldn't do it because there was an attempt with another DJ that failed...since the control plate curves inward a little more than the standard JO style. I don't even think it's possible on any of the Jazz pup equipped basses to have dual coil CS pups. not enough room.

i also figure that if i order a US version and i'm paying well over 2-3k, i should be able to do whatever the heck i want. (within reason, of course) :p

Now for question #2, directed at those who play a Lakland fretless. I’ve got a Pedulla Pentabuzz, which I love, but I don’t like hopping around between different bass weights and string spacing, both of which are an issue with the Pedulla against the Lakland. So, I’m strongly considering converting to a Lakland fretless for the reasons of consistency on stage. However, Lakland fretlesses are hard to find in the shops and so I haven’t had the pleasure of a test drive. So… Lakland fretless users… what say you? Are you loving your fretless as much as your fretted?

Actually I think I want to keep it....I asked myself to give myself 5 reasons to sell it? And I couldn't come up with them! I'm starting to connect with her....more than a feeling:ninja:

Okay, so I went down to Club Bass today and play quite a few basses (even a new US Jo4) and though all of them were very nice nothing quite struck the cord (all puns intended) that ol' #090 did. Before I left for Chicago this morning I googled direction from Club Bass to Lakland and hadn't realized how close they were. I called over and talked to Carl to see if he could take a quick look at my JO and he seemed excited when I told him it was #090 and to bring it right over. He was amazed at what great condition it's in, though it has a lot of small dings in it he said he thought it hadn't been played much. Before I knew it he started to do a set up on it so I ran out to my car to get a new set of DR's I had and voila, like magic he was done. Thing plays like butter now and don't think he did a bit of fret work. You guys are right, Carl is the man!

I now realize what I had always pretty much known; while I'm a great bicycle mechanic I make a pretty lousy guitar tech! Now if I can just fight off my buyers remorse for a few more weeks I'm home free......

Hehe, great story! As a regular visitor to the shop, I'm not surprised at all. I was just in there Friday, in fact, talking to Carl (wrote a long post about the visit on laklandowners.com). He's a great guy and really does work some magic. Anyway, congrats! If that JO plays better than the trans-white one at Bass Club, you darn well better hang on to it--I really like that one!
