I don't think you're going to get a Marcus tone from the Chis, the top end is too smooth (IMO). But I'd like to hear from Markus, Evan, Grateful, Matty and others with single-coil Chis on this, too.

So....I am relegated to "others" now...I see I see...I forget to return one phone call and you do this to me?????

(he he he!!!)

too smooth???? I think not.....how 'bout you "others"????? what'ch think....????

Decision time guys. I just received my 'other' Glaub today. It is a 2006 burst w/maple board... and is beautiful. So do I put the fretless neck on it, or on my '02 I got from Matty?

I welcome all comments...

You got ANOTHER P?????? does this mean the 44-94 is sold?

I would put it on the 'burst one....leave the classic (EARLY RUN) BG alone.......

Yeah, I'm wishing I could find the hookup on a JO5CS, but unfortunately, SOMEONE hasn't returned some emails ;)
It's OK though, I'm still in the "allocating" phase, which pretty much means selling off some other non-bass stuff. Regardless, that's what I want next.

yeh - cahs is a good thing to have "in hand" when you call your dealer - call him......you might have a better chance of getting a direct answer....

then i have to rewire the proto, i think. i'm not sure if i'm going to leave it with the pre or go passive switchable. i like the versatility of the passive tone knob, but i don't like how it affects the sound in the active mode, too. i feel like i'm never getting the true tone of the pups because of that stinkin passive tone knob. it's definitely going to come out and probably a switch put in it's place a la 55-94.

DON'T TOUCH IT.....I WARNED GUS NOT TO MOD THAT.......the passive tone knob kills...I love mine - so does Markus....

Markus - wind 'em up buddy - mission going back on (unless the North Koreans blast him first.....maybe that is what they are doing today - God let's hope so.....if not, we are "on the verge")

LOL. There are so many Laklands flying around here lately, I can't possibly remember who has what.

Too smooth for a Marcus tone, I say--but definitely not too smooth for me, more like just right.
yeh yeh...stop talkin' and start buyin'!!!
See any great deals for a JOCS, let me know!:spit:

OK, back from the gig (and I have to get up for work in 4 hours). I have to say, this is the best bass I've played in regards to feel and sound. It was perfect. It punched you in the gut while mixing in well. I dropped a few bombs with it, too (something from my bag of tricks) and it was like getting steam rolled. The sound guy from tonight was one I've worked with before and he came up to me at the end and said, "Whatever you did differently tonight, keep doing it because it was working."
Fat bottom, but still articulate. The flats work well on it. I don't know what else to say. You gotta hear it live, in the mix. If the chromes give it a little more cut, I'll give them a shot. Maybe I'll have time to head north a little and buy a set before tomorrow's gig.

One thing concerned me. By the end of the gig, I noticed tiny little cracks (?) in the fingerboard. It was very humid, so maybe it was from that. Maybe it's no big deal since they're tiny. I want to get in touch with Carl and find out the deal. If I need, I'll get the fingerboard epoxied, but I'd prefer not to.

All in all, this is it for me... I kind of want to order another one. Ya know, a backup or something. Either identical or very similar. It's a dilemma, a Callowhill 5-string or another DJ-Sonic Fretless.
