well....I DID install a 2 x 10 along the wall (just for this purpose) but I misjudged the height of the ceiling....so the top screws on (what I thought were all of them) are in the board but the bottom ones are not...I used wall anchors (capable of holding at least 30 lbs) for the bottom ones so all seemed to be "kosher".....

For some reason, the top of this one did not hit the board (I noticed this and moved all of the others up a hair before screwing them in) so I used an anchor on both top and bottom screws on this particular hanger....thought I was home free...

looks like the screw slid out of the anchor (odd) and that ripped the bottom one out when it fell..

maybe I will put a piece of stained wood across the entire wall (anchored to the board at least at the top) in SEVERAL places but I do not have the time right now....

I "pulled" on all of the others and they seem pretty stable so I think I am OK for the time being (ln knees praying!!!)

ouch!!!! Doug I am soooo with you... and because my bass fell from strap so recently
And, we're refinishing one of the rooms right now and the walls are crappy and I have hangers ready...have to really really think about it

there's a certain Japan 4-94 std. bartolini that I wish I could buy back. My current USA 55-94 std. has come close to it since it has got laklands (oddly), but I think if I were to A/B them and choose (cross my heart and hope not to), the USA would have to go

lol probably should. i think once i sell the 55-94 and get either a JO or a DJ, i'll be ok for a little bit. the proto is keepin me settled for now.

until i get more black hardware, i'm just going to leave the fretless neck off. i've got the rosewood neck on there now and enjoying it. when it becomes your bass, you can put it up on a pedestal for worship, but for now, i'll do what i want to it. :smug:

i already mutilated it with some flush mount straplocks and inserts for the cavity cover screws to screw into. i don't think i did a good job on the latter part, but it was the first time i've done something like that and the damn inserts kept breaking on me. :rollno:

all i need for it now are black tuners and i'll probably leave the ferrules as they are because i just don't feel like swapping them out.

i WILL be rewiring it, just not yet. I agree that the passive tone knob adds a bunch of tonal versatility, but i want to hear the pups w/o that addition when running them active. I might have to just get the right treble pot to do it like the glockenklang preamp that's in those human base basex.oc's. in those, when you go to passive mode, the treble pot becomes the passive tone control. then i can replace the current passive knob with a switch for changing the chi's from dual to single coil, even tho they won't sound like singles. that will be where i get my 'versatility,' mkay pumpkin?

The Chromes are just not doing it for me......played them for a couple of hours last night and they just do not feel right and....yes they growl, but there is something about the "thump" that I do not like.....

will get the neck coated and then will get a set of nickles put on it....

as an aside, the chromes are scratching the neck as well (wierd).....

will also be taking Blondie in for a look over to make sure everything is "really" OK......

not sure when I will be going but....hopefully soon as I want/need my fretless.....

(Although I seemed to REALLY suck when playing it last night......really sucked...... luckily I was only playing at home....had to apologies to the family for the "noise"...)

I know this road you've taken. So in the end, where there's a stone with writing on it (I am not sure if you know this , it's from european mythology), mind the line that says "ship to Denis - thata way" ;);)

I checked out sound clips of the Fralins and loved how smooth they sound. Add that w/the wonderful craftsmanship of US Laklands and I think I'll have a winner. And a KEEPER!

...that JO5 was the bass I was after. I don't have cash on hand so selling my Japan 55-94 parted me from her :bawl:

once i have something decent to record with i'll probably do something like that. i just got my new iphone, so it might be ok to record video with that. haven't tried it yet, lol.

oh...plus add in that i don't know how to play bass. :eyebrow:

daym! why would you even buy it in the first place? a 55-01 is a nice sandbox to play modding

pumpkin?! I hope you know what an uppercut feels like. And don't you dare ninjaing me there!

I really don't see if that can make much difference. If the VTC is based on a simple roll-off frequency filter then, when it is all the way up, the throughput is very close to 100%. Don't turn it down, that's all. Or, after a tech talk with Lakland, replace the pot itself, like, a 250kOhm with a 500 kOhm resistor. This does change the feel a bit
