While I dont' bother with these contests, the cool information is that the prize will be awarded October, 09. That means a) the Momark is happening and b) it seems like it will exist toward the end of this year, although that probably means mid 2010 before we see it in the US.

Oh, the Momark is DEFINITELY happening. I personally saw production units being built and packaged. :)

Thanks, and will do. It'll of course be for the mag first, but I'll be coordinating posts here as well. Just gotta' do the right thing for both BGM as well as TB and also not break any CUP rules.

I ended up buying an LMII yesterday... :hyper:

I had a few choices (Ampeg SVT3-Pro, Traynor Dynabass 400, Peavey Tour 450, GK 400RB IV and the LMII) but for all of the 'extras' on the others, their basic tone/price ratio wasn't even close to the MarkBass. I soooo can't wait for band practice tomorrow so I can rattle some walls. :smug:

It still amazes me how much power and tone resied in that little box. One of my bandmates saw my neoprene carry bag and asked "what's the laptop for?" Nah man, that's my head...;)

+1. I don't have a JO, but I agree the F1/AE410 rig works very well for J basses. Especially if your taste runs toward a modern J sound, as mine (perhaps a Sadowsky tone versus a JO, actually). I sort of thought that the LMII might nail the grindy, growly old school J tone a little better.

But it's incremental in any case. The most amazing thing about the F1 is how punchy and aggressive it can be, plenty of volume for any gig outside of an arena, and so small and light that it has absolutely no impact upon your schlep - it's like having no head at all. What a great, great gigging amp!

It appears that there is a lot of F1 and Berg AE '10' stuff going on.

One night I was tired already before leaving for a gig and took my LMII to use with my AE410, instead of my rack rig just to make it easy it on myself for loading wise.

This was at a time when I would really only use my LMII for on the fly rehearsals and such that I would use different/smaller cabinets.

Well after that gig I had a completely different appreciation for the LMII and picked up another one.

Markbass and AE410 sound great not only with Jazzes IMHO but also the very specific sounding piano growling Modulus Quantums

One to mount in a rack with some outboard gear and one that can go in the gig bag for on the run type of situations.

Welcome to my world way back when I first got my LMII. There's a certain punchiness that's inherent to Marco's design that really makes up for some extra power compared to other heads. For me, the particular combo that really brought it out the most, for some reason, was my Zon Sonus 5 and just about any 310 or 410 cab. The notes would literally seem to jump out of the cab at you. Impressive. I rarely use much EQ on my LMII (now F1). Just turn it on, turn it up, and bask in the glow of great punchy tone. :)

I have a line on one of the LM Tube 800 heads... not exactly sure when I'll get it, but I played one at NAMM and wanted to leave with it. :)

Oh Vic don't get me going...
Before picking up my second LMII I was just going to wait for a LM Tube to come out but I really wanted a second now for convince.

I have not made NAMM the past few years and was going to go this year with checking out Markbass as one of the agenda items, but could not make it out...so I'm really looking forwards to those guys coming out.


Currently I have 1212L Schroder on the way to replace my Acme that I'm just going to use at my home cab now. If the Schroder does work for me (which I hear you either love or hate in most cases) with LMII I'm going to move it and go for either the Epi 3 10 or a Berg AE210.

Hmm the Schroeder isn't voiced to be used just at home really, it's a live cab and that's where it excels. However judicious use of the VPF will give you a good home sound, BFWIW get that bad boy out at gigs with the LMII, I experience the best on stage and FOH sound I've ever had with that combination.

Right that I what hear its a live cab and that what I want it for...I have the Acme for home. (I actually use a few different cabs depending on the situation).

However I still hear its not for everyone, still taking into consideration that its a 'live' piece of gear. I picked it up on whim so to speak...Well see...your ears don't lie.
