Add me to the list. I just ordered one for $1104.15 + CA tax. Scheduled for delivery in early 2013. I was able to use the VIP15MF coupon code for an extra 15% off even though it apparently does not apply to backordered items. But the sales guy put me on hold and was able to get that approved. :hyper:

Wait one second! The way you wrote that it sounds like you got it for $1104.15 and CA tax PLUS you got an extra 15% off that? So you got it for about $1024 even though there's like 9% sales tax? That would mean if we didn't have to pay sales tax the total price would me $924!

Almost pulled the trigger...but alas if I'm going to spend the cash, I'm not going to get a blue one.

Congrats to ya'll and I hope you enjoy your Rics, maybe I'll have a change of heart a couple months from now when eBay is flooded with them.

Ya know...Blue is not my fav color either. ( I do love my FG )
BUT, this bass is classy, almost black at times....very cool. The pics on line do not do this bass any justice.

Another jealous person! No need to insult us because we like blue and you don't. And Ebay already is flooded with people trying to get $1800 for them. Ebay charges the seller 10% of the sales price too. Besides. If you actually read this thread you'll see almost everyone who bought one, 'Always wanted one' so don't count on many of ours turning up on Ebay.

Price was $1,104.15 with the 15% off code (VIP15MF) + $85.57 CA sales tax for a total of $1,189.72.

I'm not at all jealous and I didn't mean it as an insult friend. The eBay thing was sort of 'tongue in cheek' as eBay goes (or continues to go) to crap---and I know a handful of people will either not like them or need the money in a few months.

I'm happy for everyone that is getting one-I've wanted one for years, just not a fan of Midnight Blue. I coveted a Turquoise one an acquaintance had for years...but I'm kind of keen on Fireglo these days.
Anyway, enjoy your Rics!

To me (my opinion) he inferred we will all be selling them on ebay and we just got blue instead of the color we REALLY wanted because that's the only color on sale. He's not the first to say that either

Holy jeez, this is turning into quite a saga. I accidentally applied the coupon code twice because I thought it didn't go through the first time. The total was $1006, and I knew it was going to get rejected.

So I removed the item and started all over through eBates, new price email, etc. Double coupon total was still there.

Cleared my cache and started the process over once more. Double coupon total was there again.

Cleared my cookies, tried the whole thing again. Still showing a double coupon total!

Called MF customer service to see if I could get the coupons out of my cart. The rep asked for the item number, put me on hold a number of times, asked for the brand name again and then the item number again. Finally came back after 15 minutes and told me they couldn't honor the 15% code for backordered items. I asked her to check with her supervisor and said that others had already gotten the 15% off on this item. She said she's already checked with the supervisor and she could offer it to me at $1200. I declined--not only would I not get the other $95 or so off, I wouldn't get the eBates 6% cash back deal.

Gonna try online again. The battle continues...

I just got off of the phone with Musicians Friend. I got $90 refunded to my card and $70 in store credit (really $100, but I used a $10 coupon at order and got a $20 cable from my earlier call). Here's what appears to be happening: They are losing money with the 15% off deal and that's why I got store credit. I basically whined a little by saying everyone else got it, so why can't I and the rep worked with her manager to get me the equivalent discount as everyone else has seen. I'm happy as can be with it.

Still no pictures of my bass (because I'm lazy), but here are the things I really like about it:

The neck is much closer in feel to my 79 4001 than my 07 4003 or the wide neck 4004.
The inlays are awesome
The blue is really a nice color, I think
I like the sound of the treble pickup and the vintage tone switch is a neat toy to play with.

I used the bass at church band practice last night, which is really laid back (mostly acoustic right now since we don't have a full drum set), and everyone liked the sound pretty well. I don't play in any other type of band, so I won't have any other sound experiences, but I do like the tone. One day I may decide to put a toaster pickup in the neck, but that day won't be for a while.

I asked around a lot of places about price matching and colors. They actually buy each rick for around $1,000-1,100 (or so i was told). They're not losing money, they're just not making any.

I think they knew you would cave or settle for less nuke.

I got about the same credit (maybe $6 less?), and store credit is no problem for me since I will find a way to spend it. I think it is great they even considered applying the discount since the website says it isn't applicable on prior sales. They kept me happy and I'm sure I'll buy from them again.
