Anybody who is having issues with coupons codes need to call MF and ask for "Mary" here is why:

I ordered last night and doubled the coupon by mistake so i thought I might get lucky and get my rick for $1006. I get a email this morning saying that my order was cancled...as I expected. I called MF and Mary to explain the situation. She said they couldn't honor the 15% but I could get $100 store credit. I mentioned that others I know (that's you folks here on talkbass) got the 15% no problem. She checks with the manager and gets approved. (Woot!) She then asks "You wanted Midnight blue right?" Half sarcasticly I said "Unless I can get this deal on Jetglow"...<Mary> "Let me check, because the blue is backordered"...2 minutes later "yeah we can do that".

So I get a Jetglow Ric for $1100 and it will ship Monday...not 7/13/2011!!!

Mary is my hero!

This is nuts. I cannot get that double-coupon out of my Musicians' Friend cart no matter what I do. What the hell is wrong with their site?

I even tried purchasing the Ric at that price, then cancelling the transaction over the phone, figuring that would clear it up. I cleared my cache and cookies again after that. I started all over again and still got the same price! *bangs head against the wall*

At this point, I'd happily settle for 15% off the sale price and give up on the Ebates discount. I just hope I get a good CS rep on the phone.

Holy jeez, this is turning into quite a saga. I accidentally applied the coupon code twice because I thought it didn't go through the first time. The total was $1006, and I knew it was going to get rejected.

So I removed the item and started all over through eBates, new price email, etc. Double coupon total was still there.

Cleared my cache and started the process over once more. Double coupon total was there again.

Cleared my cookies, tried the whole thing again. Still showing a double coupon total!

Called MF customer service to see if I could get the coupons out of my cart. The rep asked for the item number, put me on hold a number of times, asked for the brand name again and then the item number again. Finally came back after 15 minutes and told me they couldn't honor the 15% code for backordered items. I asked her to check with her supervisor and said that others had already gotten the 15% off on this item. She said she's already checked with the supervisor and she could offer it to me at $1200. I declined--not only would I not get the other $95 or so off, I wouldn't get the eBates 6% cash back deal.

Gonna try online again. The battle continues...

Spent some time setting up my ric......dang, what a great instrument. I put a touch of relief in the neck, rather than dead straight. Allows me to get a touch lower action, without any buzz.

It sounds wonderful. Lots of natural deep low end.

This is the first Ric I've ever laid my hands on, so it's quite the experience for me.

I had to adjust the pole pieces to get the E up to the same output as the rest of the strings.
The neck pickup is a lot quieter than the bridge, that's for sure.
I just backed off the bridge pickup to match. Doesn't sound as aggressive now, but sounds great either way.

Removed the bridge cover because it was totally getting in my way. It's too bad, because I really dig the look.

It'll probably take a little more tweaking to get it dialed in even better. I now see why tweaking a Ric is a pain. :eyebrow:

Wow....awesome man! You're very lucky!

played my last night a rehearsal..awsome!

Also, 15 min phone call to MF=$194.85 credit/refund

kudos to MF
They only gave me $100 for mine but hey that's better than $0 so I can't complain.

Here are some photos of mine, arrived today. The finish is ever so slightly cracked at the bridge from the pressure but other than that it and the case are both perfect. Considering my two main guitars are 20 years old and have serious chunks missing that's not too bad haha. After I took these photos I installed my trebel bezel which is very nice. My only complaint is they use stickers for the "pull for tone" and made in USA tags - every other brand uses hang tags or something similar so I don't have to use goo gone on my instrument.

Your guitar was manufactured in week number 18 of the year 2011

Wow, talk about working the system, you guys are going to town.

So far I've left the cover on and I've gotten used to playing fingers over the bass pickup. I think I may have ot take the cover off so I can adjust the pole peice over the A-string, for some reason it sticks up higher than the others and sometimes the string hits it. I don't think I can fit the allen wrench under the cover without removing it first.

Dang, this is getting worse. I called again and couldn't get 15% off, the guy offered me 5% off. In other words, the price is going up each time I call, lol. Gonna try again...

Third time's the charm! I talked to Sara in customer service and she applied the 15% discount. Man, this is a great deal!:hyper:

I must say, I live in Norway so I just follow the thread as I'm a Rick fan, and such a large scale sale can show lots of information bad/ good or just twisted. But for me as an observer, you my american friends seem to be very lucky! Many of you obtain a new Rick for almost half the price and it seems that even though some received basses or hard cases which, were damaged or contained some kind of a flaw, MF customer service is to be happy about! :-)

The vote is in! I am satisfied with my 4003! Got to try it last night at a gig, and I loved it. I am just satisfied since I had to send it to my tech when I received it for proper setup and nut work. I also received the cracked case, which is being upgraded by MF (new case is on its way) as we speak. I was fortunate enough to not experience some of the other problems some of you have seen (I hope those are getting fixed!). I have to say that, so far, I prefer the standard setting on my bass over the vintage. I would have thought it would be the other way around. Most of the night I felt as if something was missing with my sound. I pushed in the tone knob, and there it was!

The 4003 will take some getting used to. Much different than my Fenders. I'll have to decide whether to leave the cover over the pickup, etc. So far, so good!

I know it's hard to keep up with all the discounts posted here...

But...I thought MF made an error, so I called them again this morning. They did make an error....I got another credit of $5.00 ;)
I had a credit of $20...they were supposed to use it for the bass purchase....they did not!( I thought so) So...in the end it seems to have been lost in limbo! They gave me the credit back($20) plus an extra $5.

I could hear the supervisor in the phone line saying "he's a good customer...give him $20 back and an extra $5"

$5.00 is $5.00:D

I've never met a new instrument that didn't need a setup. As for the vintage tone, engaging it should increase mids whereas bypassing it with both pickups sounds more like a Fender J.
