That's really very accurate and what I find so different is the AD200B has an almost neutral sound my 78' P sounds clearer than it did with my Heritage SVT now that amp is everything people say it is and then some but because the EQ is so powerful it almost renders the tone control on your bass useless. TMARK I like your settings and I'm looking to get a classic Ray you don't like the sound?

I did not like the Classic Ray through the Orange. It had some frequencies, high mids, I found really really annoying and impossible to get rid of. That bass was awesome through my other amps, but just not the Orange. I tried everything including strings, set up, pickup height, and literally six different cabs.

I used my Meatsmoke Pre and it added some Ampeg like roundness to the tone of the amp I think the active EQ of the Meatsmoke had something to do with it.

I ended up selling the Ray. If I didn't like it through my main amp, it had to go. Best neck ever. I played a Sabre through it once and it was great. Two pickups gave it that thick sound.

A P sounds incredible through the Orange. So does a Thumb, a Sadowsky, my 75 Jazz, G&L L1000, G&L M2000, and a Ric. Oh glory be to the Ric through the Orange. Ric O Sound with the Orange for the bridge pickup and the V4BH for the neck pickup is incredible.

I hear you that's one of the reasons I returned the Heritage SVT it didn't sound that great with my Hofner too much of that round bottom that made my Hofner sound really boomy I couldn't EQ it out. I think you convinced me to get that Ric instead.

If you want to do an inexpensive test, roll in a 12AU7 in Pos #1. Many people already have one laying around, or you could buy one cheaply. It will make a noticeable change. For some, it's perfect.

Regarding Pos #2, that one drives the tone control, but changing it to a NOS or other will produce negligible change in tone. It's not like it will magically change the tone control into a good one. It will still be a lame tone control.

Also, I typo'd. they are 5751, not 5771. I will edit above posts accordingly.

I have a sylvania 12ax7 in V2 and an ehx 12at7 in V1.

Screws at the bottom of the head go through the rubber feet and hold the chassis in place. You can unscrew them and carefully pull it from the metal protectors/handles at the front of the amp.

Orange come with its own tubes produced in the PRC. Gold Lions for the power section have a good rep. JJs in the pre are a good option. I personally go for TAD or Electro Harmonix, but hey, I'm biased (pun intended).

I'm redoing my music room so here is a little sneak peak before I get everything setup I'm happy to be joining the best club on TB!!!!

Very cool thanks I have some JJ's I might put in the pre section I have some nice 50's RCA Black Tops but I find NOS tubes in newer amps make a negible difference and I've spent a ton of money reaching that conclusion.

V1 is the closest to the input. Far left when looking the amp from behind.
ECC81 (12at7 in non-Christian) valves have less gain on tap than ECC83 tubes. It makes for more clean headroom, but can be a tad thinner sounding. Try them out to see what suits you better.

I'm remodeling my music room so here's a quick picture my house is over 115 years old so I'm getting the entire house rewired and for the music room some new flooring and acoustic treatments. I no longer gig so this rig is just for fun and recording even though Amplitude 3's AD200B and OBC410 models are really accurate nothing beats the real thing.

Gig last night was in a small basement bar, PA was vox-only. That rig more than did the trick. Guitar rig was Orange TH100 > Marshall straight 412. Good toanz had by all.
