Becoming part of the first TB club
After how many months/years do the tubes need to be changed?

On trust that Orange fit good quality tubes, they are not otherwise abused and the fan is always working, they should last decades.
I was at band practice tonight after work, and my Terror Bass 500 crapped out on me.
I put it on standby to go have a smoke, and when I got back the light was out.
I turned it off, and then back onto standby, but nothing happened.
I tried again a couple times, but nothing is happening.
Needless to say I'm pretty aggravated with the whole situation.
I'm really hoping that I don't end up jumping through the same hoops as the guy on these forums who has had like 4 or something of these amps stop working.

I'm thinking of canceling my TB1k order while I can. Maybe these amps are crap because they are made in the PRC.
I'm seriously considering trying to get my money back instead of getting them to fix the issue. It has greatly shaken my confidence in Orange that something they put their name on won't even stand up to 1 month of rehearsals! The Traynor YBA-200 is looking pretty damn good right now.....
What kind of speakers are you using? I only use Orange cabs with my TB500, always check the impedance switch and I never have that problem.
I'm using an 8 Ohm Marshall 4x12 at rehearsal, and a 4 Ohm 2x15 at home. I always make sure it's on the right impedance. I doubt the brand of the cabinets has anything to do with it.
Edit: I have never abused this head in any way. I have babied it from the moment I got it. I was playing at low volume before it stopped working, and I've never even cranked it.

Yeah, the cabs got nothing to do with it if you are matching impedance. But that would be pretty funny if you had to use Orange cabs to get the TB amps to work.
So there are 2 issues that I have read from multiple posts.
Hot direct out and the standby switch.
Any other issues I'm missing? Fires? Electrocutions?
I can't say I've had any issues with my Terror Bass, just used it at two festivals in 80+ temps, and it sounded and performed perfectly. It's been in use now for about one year of steady gigging, and I'm very happy with it. I usually use it with an OBC115 and an SP212, and occasionly with one or the other.

FWIW, we put our test unit (Terror Bass 500) through the ringer, and it came out with flying colors. In fact, in some ways, it's the most impressive class-D head we have tested to date. We should have issue #6 out in a couple of weeks.
I've giged my TB500 about 40-50 times with no problems other than the DI needs help and the little dance it does on my cab.. I liked it so much that I bought the TB1K.

I say that because there are lots of threads out on the web related to blown fuses, standby issues, etc, on various sites and forums.
My guess is it's a manufacturing issue, probably due to being designed in England and built in the PRC.
Against my better judgement, I'm going to roll the dice myself and keep my OTB1k order, and see what happens.
I will probably regret that decision, but for some reason I am feeling lucky....

I agree with you and PENLIYL that the make of cab should have no bearing on it, however there have been a few posts from Orange cab users with no problems vs non Orange cab users with problems, which I would concede is far from conclusive. However, one of the commercial technical guys seemed to suggest in a previous thread that D class amps may vary in their match to speakers with different impedance vs frequency curves, and that this was a problem common to all D class amps. Could it be that Orange made a special effort to choose drivers which matched as closely as possible the spec of their particular amp? I guess only Orange can say for sure.
The Genz Benz Streamliner 900 is a class D amp. I think most of the hybrids are class D. I have not seen threads about fuses blowing on the GBS 900's.
I think this is a QC issue with Orange, due to these amps being manufactured in the PRC. That's why some guys have no issues and others have to get replacements before they get a reliable amp.
