As about volume, I don't remember, They are leveled at the same level. As about notch filter - I recently went and lower it to zero and bass sounded so bright, It was scary. So, I put it back at about 11. Now, it sounds more like a P bass, and I like it. P on steroids, plus many other options.

I'm a dirty metal player so the gain trims on my PH-5 are maxed (that's how I got it anyway). My TWX has them pretty high; not maxed but close to it. I forget where the notch filters are on both; I think they're centered.
Well they kinda sound like Peavey Cirruses and if Cirruses are known for sounding like Ken Smiths, then TWs sound like Smiths. Though it depends if we're talking about the later TWs with the larger EMG shaped soapbars or the earlier ones (and the Korean ones) with slimmer pickups. For what it's worth, Google-translating the Japanese page says that both the larger soapbars and the slimmer ones are quad coils, though I don't know how accurate Google Translate actually is.
How can you find out what year is a Korean made Tune Bass is my the serial number...anyone?

The first two numbers after the "S" is the last two in the year.
Example:S12 is 2012.

A friend purchased one recently and needed a fret dress immediately on around 7 frets ( ok admittedly my friend is fussy).
Anything else I should keep an eye out for?

G'day. Mate of mine from Cloncurry,QL got married here in Scotland today
Back to basses. They have different preamp settings for a kick off. Zi752 has a preset frequency that cuts 20dB at 1khz. The TWB53 has internal pickup gain trim pots and trim pot for up to -20dB at 850khz.
Have both Korean and Japanese Tunes. No fret buzz on any of them.
Your friend's fret dress could be bad luck or down to his personal preference.
Couple of fellas told me it was impossible to get below 2mm action on Peavey Cirrus without fret buzz. I thought this was nuts as I had 1.75mm to 1.5mm. Still had 2-3mm left on the saddles.
Turned out they don't allow any neck relief,Cirrus are designed to have some neck relief
My Korean Tune has a stable neck - no fret buzz and the action is set very low. Actually one of the more comfortable necks of basses I own next to the Peavey Fury and perhaps the G&L SB2.
Oh well its going in to get looked at on Tueday. Ill post the results here. The good news is the neck is pretty much perfect, Ive isolated the offending frets, just needs minor surgery now.

Pots working from input socket round towards neck pickup are.
Bass. Treble. Volume. Blend. Switch cuts 20dB at 1kHz.
Having the volume and blend pots reversed from the normal position is the way Patrice Vigier does it. Top marks to Tune for following him.
Sorry to hear about your parting. It's a lovely bass, I hope it goes to a good home. Too bad I'm not looking for a 5er right now.
Tune update from my collection: My old Bass Maniac Standard 4 ('87 or '88 vintage) has been giving me electrical trouble for years. Found out that there are issues with the pre-amp circuit board, and I can't seem to get a new one to replace it. Soooo I decided that it was time for a change. I'm having a set of Epic Custom P/J pickups with a V/B/T/T circuit installed. I'm not playing the bass often enough to trust a battery in it all the time, and I've heard these pickups a bit on Y-tube. I'll try to post a clip of it when I get it back (4 week wait on the pups) so you can hear what it sounds like then.
Let's see if I can upload a pic of Blackie in the new gig bag...
Yeah, now that's pretty good protection for my oldest bass! Bonus points for the snake strap?

Mine seem different
My volume pot is closest to the tuning key and the bass and treble seem to be inverted.
