It's a heavy metal outfit called Ripchain. It's fun playing the fretless in this band. Some people just lose their mind when they realize not only it's fretless, but an 8 string as well. Now I just need to figure out how to play the damn thing. :D

I was watching Kool & The Gang a few weeks ago and Kool was playing a Zon Sonus. It sounded great!

Edit: why did I come here - I already have all the basses I can handle and these pictures are giving me major Zon GAS!

Bryan I think you'll really enjoy a TJ5 or TJ6. I've owned a few Elricks and I'd have to say there is no comparison between the two. I absolutely love my TJ6 but like Mike, I like the 19mm spacing. It's super comfy to play.

I have a TJ6 narrow spacing bass and have to say they are exceptional basses. I've tried numerous 5/6 string basses out there but nothing for me even comes close to the playability and tone of these instruments. I've had other high end basses that I thought were exceptional literally just sit in the closet after getting the this bass...I've sold all of them, and now just play 4 strings and my TJ6 and my fretless Hyperbass 6. I truly believe these basses will be collectors items someday. If your a true "player" this bass is really worth putting some time into, I can do things on this bass that I wouldn't dream on other basses. These basses are truly in another league by themselves and are one of the best, if not the best basses on the planet right now.

The lighting was pretty terrible and my friend was just taking some quick snaps, but here's my Sonus Special 5 from our gig on the 20th. This was held at an art gallery, which is obviously not intended to be a venue. It was a bit loud in there, but with some knob tweaking and playing a bit more quiet than we normally would have, things sounded halfway decent. I don't know if I'd play there again, but it was an overall good time for sure.

It was really laid-back and the people that came out were pretty awesome. Got to use a friends Acoustic rig too. I was pretty impressed with the amount of different tones I could pull out of it. I don't remember the name of the head he had, but I'll definitely have to check back with him about it. Might be in the neighborhood to pick one up as a backup :]

I've tried a coupe TJs now- I like Elricks just as much, but they do have a pretty different tone, and I thought I might change things up.

I contacted Planet Bass, and I was way off target with what I thought the TJs were priced at (I thought they were in the $4k range), so it looks like I'd have to look for a used one anyways :o Ideally I'd get a Vinny 6 as I loved the 4-string I had that I had to sell last year, but I don't think I could deal with a wait that long.

Portrait of Tracy had a TJ6 he was unloading. The vinnys are great too but I prefer the balance of the tj6 body

Yeah, I missed out of portaitoftracy's sale :hmm: Maybe the guy he sold it to will resell it. Never had an issue with the Vinny balance- hard to have neck dive on a headless bass. The one really weird thing about it is the lower "cutaway" isn't really cut out all all, so all the higher frets are tough to get to. It's the opposite of a TJ model
