Awesome bass! And yeah, I want to go to that shop!

I guess it comes down to personal preference regarding the matching headstock. I understand about not wanting to wait any longer since it's *right there*.

I played through the Mojo's at Winter NAMM, and I think that they are very competitive in their price range, and quite compelling. Joe is really, really excited about them. We're hoping to get one in for a review at some point. I was pretty impressed with the Zon Standards, and I could happily gig one of those, for sure. Joe seems to be even happier with the Mojos, and that is a very good sign, IME/IMHO. :thumbsup:

Wow, sorry I missed this post! This bass came from a friend of mine who is now working at the Dingwall factory. The neck pickup is a Nordstrand p-pickup in a soapbar housing, designed by Sheldon Dingwall. (Basically a dingwall pickup for parallel fret basses.) The original pickups are both now by the bridge similar to the Music Man sweet spot. The preamp is gone and the bass is passive, with the knobs being vol-vol-tone and the switches being series/parallel for the neck pickup and "coil tap" for the bridge pickups (the outside pickup). It sounds unbelievable and the playability is second to none! This is my second custom bass after my Fodera and I'm absolutely blown away.

I do have the preamp still, and I'm pretty certain I want to put it back into the bass. I also would like to bring it back to the original pickup placement to get that wonderful Manring tone (with the ramp to cover the holes). The worst part is, I'm already planning my next VB build...

So, but I've been thinking of expanding the stable.

I love my VB6 fretless (and so do many of you, apparently) but it feels quite traditional to me. It's still very "woody", however crazy that may sound.

I'm looking for a "modern" variant of my VB-6 - 6-stringed, fretless/headless, and with a per-pickup output I can feed into something like a Fractal Audio Axe-fx. Being lighter than the Zon will be a big plus, and a composite neck (or full construction) are a must.

I'm having a hard time deciding between a Status Stealth and a Basslab L-bow. Do any Zon folks have experience with these 2 brands? Naturally it's impossible to try either brand in Singapore.
