If I could not source a white Kay K5925 (keep the change) or Fender Aerodyne PRECISION (keep the change), I'd get a Fender American Original 60's P, Olympic White. Nothing else appeals to me really. Maybe a CIJ Fender 62 P.

Just to be ridiculous I went to the site and built a Bromberg and had to make it a Koa body ($600 option) in order to get the price over $2000. Anything I could possibly want in a bass they would do for well under that.

Nice. I've owned a couple of PB5s and they are really nice basses, I just can't get used to the B string so I decided to order the PB4. The necks on the PB5 are amazing! Hopefully the same can be said on the PB4.

If I had to spend $2k, I'd probably get a G&L L-2500 with lots of options. If I do get one, I doubt I'll spend that much, but I wouldn't mind a flame maple top on empress, which I think would push it to $2k.

I would buy a late 70s Yamaha BB1000 tobacco burst or BB800 black and pocket the $1500 or $1600 I'd have left over.

You can't go wrong with just about any MIJ Yamaha BB basses including current models. Although I like the BB1024 models the MIJ BB2024 are a step up that you can really feel, especially in the neck, but both are super versatile for just about any sound you need R&B, Funk, to Rock. My 80's BB3000s is the bomb and I have one BB204x left that I wish I had more gigs so I could play the damn thing!
