old guys playing originals?

Well,older local musicians can make a little noise too,not everything is lost
I play in a local band (CT),and yesterday a local radio station played a demo we have (actually more than one song).(look for Father Time,is you want to listen)

Is also in mys signature,if you do not want to wait for my band's spot in the list.
By a long shot,I do not think is embarrassing for old guys to play originals,when the head is into making songs with a sort of sense.

You are brilliant! You are living in assumptions that are way off. It that is what your ego needs to feel better, keep at it. If it makes you feel better to dismiss others experiences because you get the power to pass judgment and it feeds your starving ego go ahead..... because you are leaving no doubt as to your brilliance.
Blue, let me again remind you how compleatly clueless your where just a short time ago when it came to gigging,getting a gig,keeping a gig,getting ready for a gig,getting fired from a gig...

I don't think I'm passing judgment. I'm merely sharing my opinion.
Again my opinions mean nothing. Am I somewhat harsh on bedroomers, yes.
However, I do know there's a place for them and some ( not all ) have good sound reasoning for staying and being in the bedroom.

Listen , jumbojack, I really wouldn't call myself a bassist, I consider myself a bass guitarist. There's a difference.
I'm also not more of s bass guitarist than anyone I know of and probably never will be.
When you have been at this as long as me, the whole idea of someone being better then someone else doesn't even make sense.
Again, I'm an older, sort of arrogant Guy and an easy target. I'm ok with that, it doesn't bother me. I just don't want to be boring.

I LOVE WPKN. Haven't caught Bob's local show in awhile...glad you linked the podcast. I've dealt with/know a lot of those younger cats that came on after your tracks... really diggin' "one way down" Did you demo that in a studio, or at home?
The drummer in the originals band im in is 40. The the two guitarist are each 30. Im the young one at 23. And it's been nothing but smooth sailing. But on the other hand, 40 isn't really all that old in the grand scheme of things.

Hello TalkBass. I'd like to introduce myself:
In less than 3 weeks time I'll be 52.
And here is the band I play with Link Removed.
We're out every week playing the songs we've written, to enthusiastic audiences all over the UK whose ages range from 16 to their 60s. They come to see the band because they love the songs and the show we put on. In the next few weeks we have (paying) gigs in London, Newcastle and Coventry as well as our home town of Nottingham.
I've not been so creative or prolific with the song writing since I was in my early 20s and I don't think I've ever had so much fun playing in any band originals or covers.
As a band we're not really looking for a "record deal" because we're doing pretty nicely by ourselves. We put out our own single and video to great reviews last year. We're currently working on the follow up. We're doing regular decent gigs in front of good-sized audiences. Our gig fees and merchandise sales cover the running costs of the band and this is a band that's been together for little over 2 years.

VUDU studios in LI.Still mixing,by the way,is just the 1st pass.But the guy liked it for the radio as is.
I am glad you like it.
I have not had the chance to hear many of the other bands,but liked the ones before us,will listen the rest in the next few days.
It just shows how little experence you really have (for someone that is 59 years old) and how just a short time ago (couple years) you where asking for help on all thing related to playing out.
That would not matter to anyone if you where not acting like a pompous, condescending (and ignorant) rock star.

LOL!!! This thread cracks me up... Old guys playing originals should hang it up eh... Pull your head out of your @zz son.. Us old farts blazed the trail you struggle to tread on. Besides, We get better with age.. AGE AGAINST the MACHINE I say.. Are you part of the machine??? How's that working out for you??
