In theory, any zydeco tune could continue indefinitely. This could buy us enough time to either 1) overtax their little posteriors from shaking what the pod farm gave them; 2) prepare a mess of étouffée and cross our fingers for mass anaphylaxis; or 3) convince them we can live in peace and laissez les bons temps rouler.

You may not be aware (being so terribly young) that the Buffy dance is a copy of dancing depicted in the Peanuts cartoons. Snoopy, Sally, Pigpen, even Penny was dancing that way. I'm not sure how many little kids knew that, but when it ran originally "we" (of an age) knew the reference. Even Evil Willow knew that, not that Evil Willow was un-hip, quite the opposite. I can't believe how many of you guys suck at this. At every show that I've been to, when this song comes on, people get up and dance.
One of the most unexpected dance floor fillers I’ve seen in the many years I’ve been playing is Beast Of Burden by the Stones. I can’t explain why it fills the dance floor, but I’ve seen it happen many times. It seems to have that Goldilocks tempo that fits slow dancing and non-contact dancing.

Nice. I became re-familiar with this when Hey-Ya was popular and a big YT video had the Peanuts dancing to it.
The Simpsons teacher trombone thing still makes me smile...actually, more than Peanuts did. They were like dorky contemporaries, except for Snoopy, who was the coolest.
It's damn near impossible to find that ONE song that will get everyone up and moving since musical tastes vary greatly in terms of both location and generation/age.
If I were to pick a unifying song, it would be this one, and here's why. Every time I go darn near anywhere, if I start singing this song, someone will inevitably sing along and it has a snowball effect. And not just at anime/comic/geek culture conventions, but anywhere. And the phenomenon surrounding this song spans generations. It may not get the entire world on the dance floor, but the moment it starts playing, ludicrous amounts of people will perk up, stand up, and start singing along. The dance party will be lit up like a firecracker!

In the 90s all my female roomates and their friends could do the Peanuts dance and it could happen quite spontaneously, like whenever the famous piano music would come on. not that often. That it was used on Buffy was brilliant the kind of thing that made the fan-base.
Literally every show I do, no matter the genre, no matter the venue, event, or demographics... this song will come on during one of the breaks (and often all of the breaks) and the dance floor will invariably completely fill. It’s annoying af and would be one of the songs on loop (along with Cupid Shuffle and anything from Beyonce) in my version of Hell.
