OOPS I Cut my Finger Off

Monday Sept 17, 2018 I cut my left index fingertip off at the base of the nail , got it sewn back on and now it seems to have feeling by Thursday 20. So I wrote a ditty.

I picked my finger up and I stuck it back on.
The doctor sewed it up but it's not quite as long.
At least it still works and attached to my hand.
And nothing's gonna stop me when I play in the band.

And whenever I tried to give directions
They couldn't help but get lost
My finger pointed left but I meant to go right
And then I woke up, it was the middle of the night

I’m imagining these lyrics to the melody of The Beverly Hillbillies theme.
Come and listen to my story about a man who bled,
A poor bass player, barely kept his family fed,
And then one day he thought his finger looked like food,
And up through the stump come a bubblin' bloooood.....

Heal fast, man.

I have a friend who lost a large diagonally-sliced chunk of his right thumb, when a steel plate fell on it, while he was attempting to examine a fresh weld. They rushed him to the medical department, where the staff said "Go get the missing piece!" So, back they went.

Turned out the "missing piece" had flipped back onto that fresh weld, and was jusst about ready to be turned over and basted with some barbecue sauce.

Yeah, sadly, it was cooked. He maintained a sense of humor, too. Claims that the narrow thumb makes it handier for digging in his nose. (Sigh... welders! Whatcha gonna do?)

So what were you doing? Juggling chainsaws or what?

  1. I was cutting a special sack to feed a neighbor's cat through some porch slats. The knife resisted the cut at first then suddenly snapped through, my fingers curled into the knife path while messing with the bag, didn't notice they did, then cut the tip off at the base of the index finger nail. Well one side was hanging by a 1/16 inch strip. He is off to a recovery center after having a foot removed. First time, had some toes removed, came back for two weeks, complications happened, now he is back to the center after the foot was removed. It's like Stephen King's cat, bad things happen around it. And I cut my finger tip off trying to feed it.
