Nice bass

I've always loved the look of a P body with the Tele style headstock. The fact that it's Rosewood makes it all the sweeter. What neck is on that parts P? Looks kind of like a "Dirnt" neck.

That is nice. It does not have the squared-off heel that I would expect on a tele-neck. Do tell how you built that.

Is it me or is that some kind of 5/6 string P-bass pickup? Each half has 5 poles instead of the usual 4.

The neck is from a cheap MIK Spear brand J bass, I bought the neck with tuners here on the TB Buy & Sell for $35.00, then shaved the headstock to a tele shape, as described in This Thread. The pickup is a Bill Lawrence P-46, it has 5 poles on each pickup, and can be used with 4 or 5'ers, great sound.

That extra hangoverm ust be a super thumbrest.

You know, the original spear headstock looked cool, but not fo a P-Bass. You did a very nice job reshaping it and I doubt any regular passerby would know the difference.

I don't think there is any extra "hangover" with the pickup, it is the same size as a standard P pup, it just has more poles. The pickguad is also standard P spec. I noticed that the P-46 pickup also got a good review recently HERE I'd have to agree, it's the best among the ones I've tried: Fender RI, Duncan Vintage & QP, Rio, Bart 8s, EMG.

This P-bass is a good example of what the word "Vintage" really means...

My new SX p-bass... with a j pup. Just did a little fret work and leveling followed by a proper setup and she's now good to go for my next gig.
