My Wilkins P got a sweeeet roasted quartersawn J neck. Playability, aesthetics, feel and tone to die for. Also recently picked up a Wilkins VRB5, maybe the best Fender style 5 I've ever played, so comfortable and versatile! Oh, by the way, my two Lull basses are now for sale...

Your bass is an absolute beauty!

P.S. - I wouldn't be so quick to sell off basses. I repeatedly see guys swear that their latest bass is
the best bass they ever owned,
and in less than a year, the best bass ever is up for sale.

I've had my 2 Wilkins PJ5's for a number of years now. For a guy that flipped basses for years, that's an amazing feat. These basses ended that. Everyday I like them more and more and more and continue to receive nothing but compliments on tone. Apparently I'm not alone on the 'like them even more the longer I own them' sentiment as I hear it from other owners as well.

Krikey, that Wilkins P is nice; wish there were more pics. I didn't know he offered Roasted necks, and the fretboard is amazing.

...Did you spec that, and how long did the build take??
Recently got a quote from Pat on a l'il sumthin' sumthin' I'm thinking about. He's a great guy to work with.

This P was a 65 classic made from old woods. Original neck has a 1.75 nut and Brazilian RW board, which I still have. I just had Pat install the roasted J neck last month. With TI flats, plays like butter and sounds clear with round tone and present, growly mids.

He's offered roasted necks and bodies for several years. One of my PJ5's has the roasted maple neck and roasted alder body. It's ridiculously light and sounds amazing. They're called the 'Cayenne' model of Roadtested basses.

Your killing me.... The roasted neck looks awesome. You need to post more pics of it an your 5 string jazz

I am curious: How many of you have Pat's pickups in your basses? I have one of his very first P5 +J pickups in mine (with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp) and those have become my benchmark by which all other pickups are measured. I've tried lots of P/J setups over the years, and nothing has made me happier than Pat's setup. Ot doesn't hurt that it is also, by far, the most comfortable instrument I've ever held...

How many of you have Pat's pickups in your basses?
Pat winds his own pups? I did not know that, thought he used (mostly) Duncans, and/or whatever requested.
Very interesting!
