Yes. Howard's pickups are amazing, I have a det in a different bass. My next Wilkinds will have Ulyates.

My understanding is that he does not have a winder in-house, but he has them wound to his spec.

Pat winds his own pups? I did not know that, thought he used (mostly) Duncans, and/or whatever requested.

Jajaja... to be honest B-line I have tremendous respect to 4 string players. I played 5 string since day one, a Warwick with 16.5mm string spacing to be exact. And the standard 4 string it's to much for me.

Yeah this bass plays incredible. To be very honest I was worried that the neck dimensions of mi P where to much for me, because it's a standard 5 string Wilkins P neck. But Pat is a genius, it's so awesome that it's very comfortable and easy playing. No complaints and just wow...

The Stellartone is great. But I find that it really shines in a recording environment (not everyone that listens to it live likes it, not the case when recording) and the fact that it has a tru bypass to simulate a no tone pot is killer.

And Ulyate pups sound great. Why wouldn't them. Pat's the man. That is all I can say.

My Wilkins PJ that Pat built for me around 2006. Its a Chambered Mahogany body with a Big Leaf Maple top. The neck is Maple with an Ebony board, vintage frets and a Birdseye headstock veneer. The pickups are custom wound Lindy Fralins. Sounds and plays like Bass Heaven. Pat is absolutely the best builder and painter I have ever known and one of the nicest people in the World.

Ulyate Tic tac pickups. B string is very focused by I’m still trying to figure out ideal pickup height. The neck and body are roasted with the body also being chambered so there’s a lot of different factors effecting this basses tone. Still learning how to dial it in.
