Paul Gray form Slipknot found dead

ya, some radio station had a contest a couple years ago where they had people drink tons of water and hold their pee, and one gal in the contest died from water intoxication. however, i may be crazy but i think the risk of a heroin od is much greater than the chance of water intoxication. most people who drink water aren't trying to win a contest by holding their pee after drinking 2 gallons. usually they're just trying to survive. so let's not use this as any sort of bs reason to think heroin usage is as natural as drinking water. come on!
This.

Water is a requirement for life, heroin is not.

I really hope the people defending addiction and drugs are not in denial of their own problems. At this point (say vs the 60's), I don't see how anyone can justify drug usage, but they do and talented lives continue to be wasted while their loved ones have their own world fall apart.

The whole issue here is addiction period and the only thing that can be done to stop it is education and treatment. Drugs will enter this country and be made in our boarders..we have and always will loose this war. Fast food will not go away nor will alcohol or really anything that can be addicting and that's where the problem lies almost anything can be addicting to someone. Bass playing (too much) or being addicted to the lifestyle could lead to a type of addiction..funny as it sounds. Maybe a person would pass up a good job cuz they would have to work weekends and wouldn't be able to gig or practice....taking money away from their family. Maybe they spend more time with the band than their family or ignore family and friends to spend time practicing etc. I know its a reach but you get the point. Anything that changes your life in a negative way can be an addiction if you peruse the activity and ignore others or allow it to impact your life in a negative way.

I hate drugs and the only hope for is to educate people into staying away from them and their dangers. We need to continue to provide support for those that although knew the dangers got into them anyway.

I wasn't at all! I was just stating the fact that it is true that drinking too much water can kill you. I refuse to even smoke pot...

Damn, some people really lack empathy.

Often one stupid decision is all it takes to get addicted. And most people will relapse before they finally kick it, if they ever do.

I don't think making a stupid choice means someone deserves death.

Like any of you have never made unwise decisions in your lives. "Let he who hasn't sinned throw the first stone."

Sometimes spiritual death is worse than the real thing friend. I get your point but he manifested a lot of his chaos and ultimate self medicating. Look at the lifestyle and the music.,.. it was more than one decision...

Why?

The thread should at least be left open for the Americans since we have a First Amendment write to free speech and free press. :D

Lots of folks on here bashing Jimmy for speaking some truth about drug abuse and irresponsible behavior. Yeah, Paul died. I'm not a fan of Slipknot (but I've listened to them) and we're all (even Jimmy) sad that his wife is alone and pregnant and his baby will never meet him. Unfortunately, just because someone dies, the world doesn't stop turning. Everybody won't speak well of you when you die either. Everybody's entitled to an opinion and they don't have to be soft and sweet to every dead person they hear about. Sorry, folks, but that's part of life. You might need to toughen up a bit. Hilter's dead and Stalin's dead but you don't hear many people speak well of them. Why? Because they died a long time ago? Are they any deader now than they were back then? No.
Sorry about Paul's death but he did lead a dangerous and irresponsible lifestyle. Jimmy's right. Paul decided the drugs were more important than his future. He was old enough to know better. The whole thing is very tragic.

If anything, this should be a wake up call and a reminder to any of you guys who are messing with drugs.

Drug abuse damages the human body in ways that are irreversable. So even if a former drug addict dies from a "heart condition", it's most likely that heart condition was caused by the past drug abuse.
