I have a pair of Mark VIII amps and love them, both have minor problems with pots, Peavey customer service is great, on request they sent out circuit diagrams and dated the amps for me, yeah weight is a problem with these old amps but I reckon they are worth it, huge solid floor shaking sound and very reliable.

This pic is how I bought the second amp with some broken pots but the other one I have is almost identical.

I have one of these heads and I really like it. I play a thunderbird through it with an old Peavey 410. Lots of power and the built in chorus is nice. It has all the options needed for a musician that plays the local scene. It's built solid as all Peavey stuff. The weight is an issue of course. The two handles are good, but it's hard to carry anything else at the same time. I bought a Peavey amp handle on eBay for $7 and installed it on the side so I could carry it with one hand and my bass in the other. It was a little tricky to get it installed because of a metal plate inside the box, but I wish I would have done it sooner!

I have not used either of these speakers but if it was me I would like either 2x1502 or one of each in the cab, I use a 410 cab with horn 600w and a 115 400w cab and add a single 15+horn 250w PA cab and mix up combinations between my two mark VIII heads, as these heads will do 2 ohms you might want to consider that if its an option. Someone having used these speakers could give better advise I am sure.

Right on thanks. I picked up a 1502 to match the one I already had. I have run a couple of different amps through the cab and I really like the sound I am getting. I have an mb200 and it sounds cool as well as an old Peavey head. The one that's called 'Bass'. It is pretty darn loud. After reading the manual I have found some great settings! Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Old school engineering. Peavey used to throw the prototypes on the floor to see what broke then beef that up. Repeat until nothing broke any more, then produce.

Hey guys, I picked up an old school Peavey 115 cab a few weeks ago that needs a new speaker. I'll probably get a BW 1502 DT-8 or a 1505 DT-8. I'm also gonna get an old school Peavey head for it. Any suggestions? I want it to be LOUD.

Most Peavey amps are loud. It all depends on what you are going for with sound. There are lots of good ones to choose from. IMHO any of the Mark series are decent. My favs being the mark iv or mark viii only cause I have used both. They both give you the option to add more speakers if you need to later. I would do some research and see how many different ones you can try. That's the best way to attack it.

This was my rig for many years. ProBass 1000, DECA 424, 410S. The cab is gone but I still use the head. I have a MAX preamp in transit and that will mate to an IPR3000.

Look at the previously owned gear in my profile. I think I deserve a number. ;)
