Peavey Amps Club

Just wondering if a 300w peavey head would be able to run two 2x15 cabs. I have the chance to get a Mark III from a friend. The musical style I play is classic rock such as REO, Dobbie brothers and such. I might be getting with a group that has 2 guitars and drums

I'll take a number! I started out with a Tour Series TNT 115. That was my first real amp, and I still own and enjoy it. Recently, I picked this up for $450:

IMHO I would say go for it! The Mark III can go down to 2 ohms and is 300 watts at that resistance.

Hi all.
I normally don't hang in the amps forum, as up until yesterday, I haven't had one in a while (since 05/08, when I sold my Megabass with 1516 cab. :( ) My first Peavey amp was a TKO 65 I used for many years before trading up to the MB.
Yesterday, I picked up a Backstage Plus (yeah, I know.) for $20 on Kijiji. It's an 87, I think, but still works. Needs a cleanup and a proper power cord repair. I'll add pix later. I'm playing a Bronco through it, so it's not being pushed. I just wanted something for home practice/getting my chops back. I need the hp jack more than anything. :D
I did find out I can use the pre out/pwr in to play mp3's with, just pushing the stereo plug in to the first notch.
Not sure if that qualifies me for a number, but if it does, I'll take it and add it to my sig. First club to join, YAY! :hyper:

I love these two. The Microbass lives in my son's room for practice and lessons; the MegaBass/1810 lives at my drummer's house for rehearsal. We took this monster to the gig on Friday and it's just too large and loud. I needed the input pad pushed in and could not get the master gain past 1 before it was just too much.

Not sure if there are numbers, but I'll take one if they are still coming. The MegaBass is one seriously awesome head.

P.S. The 1810 sounds best when bi-amped with the 18" at about 200hz.

Don't think you'd need both 2x15 cabs. Pull a decent amount of the low low bass out to clean up your tone and give yourself headroom, and you'll have a killer single 215 rig.

Save the 4x15 rig for the outdoor gig on Yasgur's Farm.:hyper:

I just picked this "heffer" of a Combo 300 up today for a miserly $60. Guy I bought it from was an organ player. It's really beat up but it sounds great. I'd like to pick up a 2x10 cab eventually and bring this cow down to 2ohms and get jamming hard.
