Thanks for the responses, everyone. Just to bug you guys some more, how far in from the outer edges are the feet ? The reason I'm asking is, I'm wondering if it's going to be a good fit on top of my 12/6, which has the plastic corner protectors. I'm wondering if the feet of the Mini will wind up half on, half off those plastic corners.

So I fire up the mega today and no lights. It still puts out sound, but also the bottom row of buttons(mute, punch, etc.) don't work. Guess I'm calling peavey. Anyone have any insight?
This isn't necessarily your problem, but I noticed the sound of something loose inside my new MM, took the top off, and discovered one of the three screws holding the board for the lights above the knobs had come out and the other two were loose. If I were you I would look for a loose connector. If you take off the top, leave the fan attached to the top and pull off its connector instead.
Just got one of these a couple days ago. Worked great for a week. Then today went to turn it on and nothing. No lights, no sound, just an electrical hum. I checked the fuse and it's good. Peavey said I'm out of luck because I'm not the original owner/no receipt. Any ideas? Thanks!

That's messed up. You might try it again. "I've only owned this a couple weeks. It was purchased from a dealer. I paid cash and don't have a receipt. It was one of those open box things. I'll work with you, just tell me what I need to do to get this fixed". Don't lie (there were no lies in my statements above, the original purchaser obviously bought it from a dealer), be polite but firm.
Thanks @XontheP for that tip. Yeah it's a total bummer. This thing is barely touched/ mint condition and worked flawlessly for a week. Then I turned it off to change a bass and it just completely stopped working. I'm devastated. It was such a rad amp! Especially with the peavey fury I got. I want to be all in on peavey but I'm just heartbroken now.

Same thing happened to me. Turned the amp off at the end of the gig and it wouldn't power back on for the encore. First gig with the amp. It did work fine for three rehearsals though.
Sent it in and it was repaired under warranty, but I don't know what the issue was.

i'm just gonna' say it straight up: the minimegas have a PROBLEM. don't know if it's peavey QC across the board or something specific to the 1000, but the reliability isn't there. period, end of story, at least for now. an amp has to work more or less 100% of the time, people.
Wow I'm not happy to see this sample of problems. Mine has run flawlessly for 4 months average 10-12 gigs a month or more. I can't see the cooling problem unless you call a less than uber quiet fan a problem. It would only bother me on a quiet jazz gig and I probably wouldn't bring it to those anyway. I have never heard the fan on the gig. I also don't use it for a practice room amp. Mine stays bouncing around in the back of my SUV 24/7/365 and gets pulled out 2-3 times a week to work.
As to button problems, the buttons must be pushed in fairly hard so I'm wondering if not enough pressure was applied, just thinking out loud here. My amp was a "blem" open box thing too but I could find no blem or lack of original packaging. I got a full manf. warrantee with mine. As to electrical tape and the AC and output wires I'll have to have my guy take another look inside, he's had a look,already. I would think he would have said something if anything looked wonky. Also regarding the above quoted cooling "problem or weakness" I'd guess the choice of fan was a design choice rather than a so called weakness/problem. But that's a guess cause I'm no EE designer.
I'm not a Peavey fanboy or wasn't until recently. This the first piece of their gear I've bought since I bought a bass amp and the 800 for my PA in the 70s. In their defense my Genz Benz 12.0 was DOA but I was sent a new one in 48 hrs.so to me it's not so much what goes wrong but how it's handled. I hope we all get our problems handled expidiously. My MM kicked butt last night on a loud Blues Rock gig and it's going to do the same tonight and tomorrow. Cheers!

I've been holding off on writing up my experience with my MM until I got to the bottom of a problem that I'm now fairly confident was undervoltage at a particular venue (affected a Crown amp as well), but I will contribute this: I heard something rattling around inside it one day, which turned out to be a screw from the sub-board for the lights above the knobs. The other screw holding this board was loose and due to fall out any time. It's possible that some failures are due to such loose screws shorting something out as they roll around.
Regarding low power venues, I do a regular sun. gig at one place that my Carvin amp shut down at from what I guessed was low power issues. The MM did not have the same problem there. Neither does my GB SM.
What happened with me: Crown XLS1500 driving Fearless F210. Toward end of third set, it started cutting out (designed overtemp behavior for Crown). Reduced volume and finished gig. Next time same place, XLS1500 driving EVM 15L (carefully). No problem. Next time MM driving F210. At end of first set, it started cutting out. On break, brought in Crown/EV rig (preplanned spare) and finished gig. Then took F210 to an expert tech who found zero faults. Next time same place but different band, took Crown/EV rig, and keybs kept shutting down and rebooting, and I sounded crappy. Called a break, split half the band's gear to a second AC circuit. Problem solved. EVERYBODY sounded better. So I think I've cleared the MM and the F210, but will know for sure next time, when we go back with heavier extension cords and better AC planning. And a voltmeter.
Heavy extension cords (e.g. 10ga) are expensive and, well, heavy. I got a 75' 12ga, which is the same voltage drop as two 50' 16ga in parallel. Hope it's enough.
Disappointing as a real believer in peavey reliability in the past at least.Has the mini max similar issues ? was pretty close to getting one......darn
Your better off with Gallien Kruger or Mesa. My experience with Peavey was a list of strange problems that caused me to leave the brand a long time ago.
I had no power or heat issues with my Mini-Max, and haven't heard concerns here on TB. I believe it's a more time-tested topology than the Mini-Mega. The only objection I've seen and experienced is to the fan that runs full time and to some noise in the DI. These issues are real, but nothing show-stopping - for me, anyway.
