I'd like to suggest having a section here that lists the people who are banned, and why. Not in thread form where people can comment, as that would go downhill real quickly - but a listing and explanation. To me that only seems right.

Many of us here form friendships/relationship with other members, and then if or when they're suddenly cut, it's over. And we have to then walk on eggshells trying to find out why.

I have some other ideas about this feature, and more ideas on why I think it would benefit the forum in many ways, but I'm tapping this out on my phone (which I hate doing), and just want to get the ball rolling.

What does everyone else think? Pros? Cons? Suggestions on making it work well?

And for future reference for anyone, if you see a post that needs reporting, click the post report button and it goes to a report section that all moderators can see, and all moderators can ban spam accounts regardless of which forums they moderate. If you send a report to the help desk, only the administrators see it- there's only a couple of us, and I had a very long band practice last night.

I would question the sensibility of a site that would ban someone of the talent and import of Jeff Berlin; that is, if I were to question things. I'm not questioning it but I do wonder what we have missed out on learning.

I met Jacquo in real life last year at a guitar store in Chicago, not knowing who he was or that he was even on TB at one time. He was cool. Weird and cool. And I later bought his $15 groove download and it's really good and I confirmed with a world-class blues guitarist friend who grew up with Jacquo that he IS a bass badmofo. I'm sure the "other" Jaco would be banned, too- for a disability sometimes beyond his control- I suspect that Jacquo may suffer from a disability of a similar nature.

If you know of Jeff Berlin, then you know that his personality has often outrun his talent, and it has cost him. If you know THAT, then it's of no surprise that he's no longer welcome on TB.

And if that doesn't make enough sense, you can do a 5 second google search and find this:

Wow is right.
I knew Jeff Berlin was banned and had a fair idea why, but having read through that link, I am absolutely amazed at how lenient the mods were in dealing with him.
I actually tried to count how many violations he got away with, and lost track completely.
A guy who brags about not having read the rules, who clearly felt they shouldn't apply to him ... TB is clearly better off without him.
I was also surprised at how many people seemed to support him, either because of his playing ability or because they just don't like rules themselves.
