... why mess with perfection??

Perhaps a little browner tort, but that is splitting hairs ...

... looks to be a MIM FSR Nat Ash body with either an American Series or American Standaard neck?

Correct on the body...and likewise the neck, which is off a USA Ho Rod Precision, which was a PJ from the beginning of the naughts.

Given your requirements, my first thoughts were mint or parchment.

I'm a huge tort fan but, on a natural finish bass, I think the tort would look better with a rosewood fretboard.

This gold pearl looks fantastic! But I notice the bass also has gold hardware, which is probably a requirement with that pickguard. Chrome or black hardware wouldn't look right.
I have to agree.
I think it'd have to be the same on a white bass or black bass, too.

Look, let’s get real for a moment. It doesn’t matter what color you get, what matters is what kind of material you throw on it. Personally, I believe a nice bass deserves nice materials. Get yourself a nitro p/g in any color. If you were to smack me, tell me to choose, I’d say get a nitro mint guard.....let it age to perfection.

What year is that bass on the right, and what type of neck is it? That thing looks like a player to me!

The one on the left is a '74, the one on the right is a '76... I flipped the '74 for a nice profit because it had a lot of road wear and was around 10lbs... I kept the '76 because it's pretty clean for it's age, plays and sound just like a P Bass should, and weighs a little over 8lbs - it's pretty much all original, with the OHSC too... Here are more pics of the '76:
