Sweet...Hot Rod II is born!
hehe - funny you say that. When the pinstriper dude brought the bass back, I saw his truck pull up on the drive (you know how it is Dow), Bud legs it outside and I'm inside going :hyper:

Bud brings the bass in to show me and there's much ooohs and aaahhhs happening. I commented to pinstripe dude that it was like a Chip Foose moment going on.

Stupid question Bud,
Do you put the serial number on your basses?
I never found mine!

It's in the neck pocket and on the heal of the neck. Hidden from the world. :D I burn them in with a wood burning tool. It looks horrible! Lately I've been getting lazy and writing it with a Sharpie on the neck, still burning the body. It says "LECOMPTE", #XX, and "month-year". On set-necks I write them in either the pickup cavity or on a card that's taped to the inside of the control cavity cover.

I was always so surprised that Fodera just stamps their SN's on the top of the headstock...you'd think for 6-7k they would do something more elegant. Ken Smith does a nice little signature/SN on the inside of the control plate. It looks good.

you know, with the exception of my T-Bird, i have not played any of Bud's 5 string creations. :crying:

I still need to find time to bring the Bird out for a check up.
