Playstation 4 VS Xbox One

Wasn't the DS3 basically an updated sixaxis (added vibration and better build) ?

Must admit that I'm not a big fan of appearance of the PS4 controller, I wonder if the track pad is even going to be useful.

yeah basically they did away with the vibration, uproar they put it back in, but it still has the six-axis functionality. I can only think of one game that utilized this tho.

that's my understanding anyway, could be wrong.

heavenly sword. no desire to play sports games in me.

I don't think it should be a versus battle. If you're a gamer, then you're boobs to like game releases that are specific platform only releases. Each console has ours own pros and cons, and the other platform will fill those. Why not get both?

can only afford one. playstation treated me well, playstation 2 treated me well, playstation 3 treated me well, preferred the controller and the exclusives. ps3 had much lower failure rates and refailure rates (although to be fair nintendo spanked both xbox and ps3 in this regard). so all of this already had me leaning towards a ps4, then the xbone attempting to shove themselves in your life and the condescension that came from the company after the backlash. reminded me of the mass effect 3 debacle.

anyway, pretty easy choice for me, but I don't begrudge people for choosing the other.

I have an xbox and a ps3 already, they seem to work fine. Games, online searches, Netflix, Blu-ray, etc.

I have no reason to get a new one of either. Don't foresee a need for quite a while, if ever.

I'll just wait over here for all the bugs and quirks to be ironed out. And then, I'll probably get one used. :)

Got to check out a PS4 controller in person last night. the pictures of it don't do it justice. is slightly wider than the PS3 offering, lighter as well. noticed some things I'm not found of; the grip on top of the joysticks has changed and the "handles" and "main body" seem thinner. almost like they were working their way back to the boomerang controller that never happened.

For the era of the modern consoles, I had the first XBOX, and the 360 but now I am going Sony. It is by far the more powerful machine for gaming. I don't really need a second way to play television. And it does everything else I need it to do well, Netflix, Last.fm and a few other things. Also have seen very positive reviews of the remote. XBOX played it's hand by going for domination of the living room, but I think real gamers will go Sony.

EDIT: Plus it looks really nice, as compared to the XBOX which looks like a 1980's VCR. Much smaller as well.

Consoles were always going to get closer and closer to PCs. Simply put, the expense in developing processors is so high that it's not financially possible for console manufacturers to make their own completelly original processor and be competative.

Plus, nearly everything is going cross platform now, so having unique processors can be more problematic (as was an issue at times with the PS3).

One thing I will say, they certainly push game makers to optimise their games well. Look at the visual quality of game you get on a PS3 or Xbox 360, given that the on-paper spec is a pretty lackluster 7-8 year old machine. It's impressive.

I'm really liking what Steam are doing with the Steam Box / Big Picture ideas. With consoles getting closer to PC's, it makes sense for the PC market to try and shunt in on the casual console market.
