Given the choice why would you do something which has no real benefit over a previous system but which offends or annoys some people when not doing it offends or annoys no one?
Even if you don't understand what the big deal is where is the benefit here?
The benefit is for the mods not to have to police the site so much. The benefit is a swear-free environment for kids, because when people are asked nicely to not swear here, they just do it anyway, and wait for an infraction.
The benefit to you doesnt matter. You are a PARTICIPANT, not an admin here. Start up Basstalkers.com and swear or asterisk yourself into a coma. And like the other bass sites, practically no one will read it, and it'll turn into a giant boring bro-fest, where you and the three other people reading the site can talk about how lame Talkbass is.
The mods don't want people to swear here, and yet people still do, defiantly. I have nothing against any words, I swear like a sailor daily. But rules are rules. Break them and there will be consequences. And YOU don't get to choose the consequences, or have to like them. Understand yet?
You have ZERO rights here if the powers that be say so. And no hissy fit, no matter how childish you make it, will change that.
This isn't a free speech issue!
