Post your unique pedal combo sounds

Link Removed vomit into 4 bass tracks.

Ive only seen the movie once, but this clip reminds me of house of 1000 corpses:bassist:

What's the BMS trick? I'd love to have an extra use for my BMS, I feel bad keeping it on my board when it can only do 999 things that I love.

I put it in between the OC-2 and Bass Fuzz or Freqbox and it significantly improves tracking-- glitch-free attack and longer/smoother sustain. I keep all sliders down except the Guitar slider which is kept at unity. For the Freqbox I actually move the 'stop freq' slider up juuust a smidge, otherwise I can't move too far up the neck before the notes will choke.

The Bass Fuzz doesn't have any dynamics as it is, but the Freqbox retains it's playing dynamics when the BMS is cutting out the highs going into and envelopes respond very well to it still- actually better even because there are no glitches in tracking to kill the envelope. The Bass Fuzz is glitchy, especially on attack- but with the BMS going into it, it has an even attack and flat sustain that makes for a nice fat wall of sound.

I hadn't thought of it before, but you should really try this with your BMS in line before the OS using an oscillator patch, and I bet you'll notice a significant increase in tracking down near the low E while still retaining the majority of the natural tone, despite cutting out the highs going into oscillators/fuzz. If you do give it a shot, I'd be interested in hearing your results. I should post clips of this chain with and without the BMS in line to show the difference..

Can I just through up my MicroKORG + ToadWorks Redux Delay Clips? Not technically effects combos...

That sounds more like your favorite song than the Microkorg ;):p

So you're using it as a low-pass filter before your FreqBox? Wouldn't just the tone knob on your bass take care of that?

So you're using it as a low-pass filter before your FreqBox?
Basically yes (though iirc the BMS filter is a bandpass).

Wouldn't just the tone knob on your bass take care of that?
Nope, there's a huge difference. My bass's tone knob makes no noticeable difference in the Freqbox or Bass Fuzz's tracking, and the BMS setting Im using is cutting out much more frequency that my tone knob is capable of. I've also tried the Moog LPF and FX25 in place of the BMS, with no difference in tracking-- they don't work. I have my Syle Green filter on my board temporarily, and even going OC-2-Syle-Freqbox has a significant positive change in the Freqbox's tracking..

I haven't tried my compressor or EQ pedal yet, but the Freqbox also seems to track a dirty and/or compressed signal better. For instance: The Freqbox tracks the Pollyanna's square -1 better than the OC-2 or my clean bass.

I'll post a clip of a few different combinations this evening-

Weird. Well I'll give it a try when my O.S. gets back from Sydney (I have a feeling it's currently sitting on a shelf in customs somewhere while they scratch their arses and eat biscuits). Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I've been using my Green Russian Muff clone + Boss PS-3 set to short delay but nearly infinite repeats and my Boss BF-3 on a slow mod.

It's nearly what I could get with an Ebow, which I now think I will buy anyway.

The muff pumps out glorious sustain and I can't really explain it. I'll get a clip up...somehow...sometime.

Just a little groove that I was playing around with and will possibly use parts of for a song at some point.
I used:
MXR Bass Octave Deluxe -> MI Audio GI Fuzz -> Maxon AF-9
AF-9 -> Source Audio Tri-Mod Phaser
MXR Bass Octave Deluxe -> DOD FX25 -> Boss CE-5 -> Source Audio Tri-Mod Phaser -> Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter

According to the FreqBox's manual: "If you find the FreqBox to be too dynamically sensitive for your style of playing, or too dynamically sensitive to your instrument, try putting a distortion device or compressor before the FreqBox."
I've had very good experiences with ms4 NoctoLoco as it would make tracking much better.

Yep it can make a big difference, the Pollyanna I mentioned above produces an octave very similar to the Nocto Loco and the Freqbox tracks it very well. I prefer the tone and dynamics of the OC-2 into the Freqbox, and have found that placing a buffer and/or Eq (boost lows, cut highs) between an octave pedal and the Freqbox makes for a great tracking VCO.

I am a big fan of Boss PS3 on mode 8 into a boss DD3 into my EHX Holy Grail on hall into either my Boss PN2 on pan mode or my DOD bass flanger. Its instant ambient creepyness.

For full on brutal I like Whammy 4 Oct down harmony into fulltone OCD into Prescription Electronics Depth Charge. Its heavy.

I also love the sub octave synth sound on the Digitech BSW into the PS3. Its cool.

Clips from my Source Audio Tri-Mod Phaser review thread.

Its just after Halloween, so i think a zombie thread would be ok.

I like to put my AD-9 to a slow delay time with a lot of repeats before my fuzzes.

Bass>AD-9>Boss PW-2>Tube Zipper>amp

Amazing wall of fuzz that just doesnt die. As long as your just strumming one note, you can fill a space up with this beauty of a lofi fuzz sound.

Heck, why not...

Bassballs + Small Stone: funkyyyyyyy

Flanger + Bass Synth Wah + SansAmp PBDDI on overdrive settings : mock sequencer

105 Q + PBDDI + BBE Sonic Max: good slap tone

Bass Synth Wah (type 5) + Bass Big Muff: scary fuzzy monster who can speak vowels !

PBDDI + DOD Fx25B: dirty funk

Of course, not all of'em are song-usable, but a few is.

I have uncovered a very, very fun chorus sound: Digitech Whammy, set to deep detune (and treadle toe down), Polychorus, set to do...chorus-y stuff... and the Jazz Chorus' built-in chorus. I won't use the term 'lush,' as that implies a single, very thick signal. In fact, I would give it three distinct layers. Something about a digital pedal amongst all that analog delay makes it sound so great.
