I use Warmoth P bodies routed for JJ pickups.

My JJ and PJ basses have P bodies and J necks.

G&L and Yamaha have offered P style bodies with JJ pickups, why not Fender.

Y' know? The thing I would change first is trussrod adjustment always be at the headstock end. Some of the older models and RU's have it under the pickguard....Agggh!
A brass nut is not a bad idea. Alnico 5 pickups as standard as well . Keep bells and whistles and novelty stuff off....Of course non of these will be implemented. But if " FenderMusical Instruments" were mine....

I wish I had bought the angled 1/4" cables...I feel like the straight angled ones put into a jack on top of the body is gonna make it break eventually...I wouldn't mind a jack on the side of the body on P-basses though

Traditionalists flame away if you must, but a tilt back headstock means you don't need to mess with string trees and there is proper tension at the nut. So, I would vote for that not just on a P-Bass, but all basses. I like the truss rod wheel, too. An easy way to avoid stripped truss rod nuts and they make for simplified, quicker adjustments. Another item I'd just as soon see on all basses.

5 or 6 string fretless unlined or lined with finished ebony board, p/j pickups. active passive switch, 35" scale neck, 19mm string spacing, neck through, and single cut body. Now, that's a P bass I would jump at but, we know Fender won't go for a neck through or set neck so, I would settle for a 5 or 6 bolt neck with a tapered heel and the truss rod wheel at the body end and that new string retainer that the American Deluxe basses have but, on every string instead of just one.

What Fender should do is drop the A string tuner to the lower side of the headstock and move the stringtree to the A-D strings, put a truss wheel at the heal end of the neck. Heck, get rid of the crappy pick-up and ad a humbucker by the bridge, maybe add an optional single coil in the neck position. That would make a better Pbass.
