uh oh, guys.

I've since deleted this file, probably during a disk cleanup (you know you're supposed to do that with audio computers...)

I can do another one. I suggest a less 'advanced' chord progression, so we can all take a bite of it. Last time, the progression had some very ambiguous harmonies, without a clear resolution. While that lent itself to the cyclical nature of a million solos, it didn't do a lot for those of us who are 'less hip' to advanced harmony.

So, let's come up with a progression, I'll try and band out a cool backing track (the last one was pretty sweet), and we'll start again.

It's in the 'key of the moment', but C is implied, in that there's a V7 chord to a I chord....

but you can do lots with it...

here's the deal. The track has two measures count in (1, 2, 1234) and goes two choruses (48 bars) and ends. when you do your solo, don't come in early, and be out (completely) before the end of the last bar of the chorus, that'll make it easy to edit together. If everyone sends me an MP3, I'll edit them together, master it and then get it to whoever wants to host it.

That's only becuase you changed one of the chords! ;)

It is not supposed to have a key centre - it is supposed to be a continually shifting tonality striving forever onwards to a new key centre.

This was the "blowing" section of a tune that I did which was written by an alto sax player I know - it was called something like "Eternal Flame" - eternal was in it anyway - and there is a head and coda which take this theme further - so he explained it to me as something that is forever striving to get to the next key centre without ever reaching a resolution.

So - I had these changes programmed into my microcomposer to practice soloing and I thought it was a nice little progression which seemed to work well for a bass solo - although some of the other instrumentalists had been a bit "bemused" by it - so I got to solo over it!

So, when this project was suggested I put forward this chord sequence; but I think Jon changed one chord as he wanted it to resolve - but that wasn't the original composer's intention!

So the last chord should be G9sus4 - not G7b13! ;)

and yeah, I changed that chord so there was resolution.

ok, dudes, i think this idea is great and i'm well up for having a go!

I'll try to figure out those chords tonight and start work!

Maybe we should agree alength for each solo? - has this already been done?

PS: CROZ & Pacman - yes, Nuendo is brilliant. So intuitive, easy to install, use - I love it... I know who to ask when I get a few problems now. Cool!

I admit I was pretty confused when I looked that those chords, but when I got home and played about with them, it's not as hard as it looks 'on paper'...
