I'm having a hard time understanding why so many consider this tragic.
She wrote a song about rehab, with lyrics stating "They tried to make me go to rehab, and I said no." It seems to me that she chose her life of drug addiction. Why anyone chooses such a lifestyle is beyond me, but I'm not one to understand why people do a lot of things. She had multiple opportunities to get help if she wanted it, but the attitude portrayed in her song, alone, is enough to tell me that she did not want help.
Death is consequence of drug abuse. It is sad, of course, for her family and those that loved her, but when a person makes a choice to slowly kill themselves with drugs, you can't feel sad for them, that is what they wanted.
Now, on the other hand, I am not very familiar with Amy Winehouse, so if anyone can present evidence that she had expressed interest in getting help with her drug problems, I am open to change my opinion.
