R.I.P Louis Johnson

I am really genuinely saddened by this. I listened to the Brothers Johnson for hours last night while working homework. I was humming Get the Funk Out My Face when I saw this thread and I couldn't believe my eyes. Rest in Peace, Thubderthumbs.
Same here man, I was talking about how he inspired me so much in a thread yesterday!
It was hard to believe he's gone, still is now!

I know, me too!
I mean I know it's sort of a sensitive thing to ask now, but it makes you wonder because the man was not that old.
As I am personally aware, age does not matter...nor does a decent level of fitness.
Some of us have bodies that produce plaque.
As a result, some of us are walking time bombs & we may not have a clue until it's too late.
Listen to your body. There may be signs.

Sorry, off the pulpit.

So true!
I just recently had to go to the hospital due to a pain in my lower abdomen and the doctor did everything from a CT scan, ultrasound, and X-ray! Said my kidney was inflamed, but still wasn't sure and I'm still in a little pain! I'm just afraid that I am a ticking "time bomb," I just hope I live life to the fullest and accomplish my dreams like Louis before I go ya know! :(

I first saw 18 y.o. Louis along with his brother as part of Billy Preston's "God Squad" circa 1973. It wasn't long before the brothers had split off to create their own unit featuring their own sound. We all know and have our favorite Thunder Thumbs moments but for me "We Supply" a duet with Stanley Clarke is my favorite. RIP Louis.

This one really hurts. Louis was an amazing musician, a legend, and very nice guy. I first met him at a clinic at the old Bass Centre in Studio City/LA sometime in the 90s. I was young and one of maybe 2 females in the whole group. He talked about playing with Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson. He had a band with him and I was so excited to see and hear him in person. He was giving out some of his instructional videos randomly. A guy took mine and Louis stood up and told the guy that wasn't cool, but the dude wouldn't give it back. It was the last video Louis had with him so he offered to mail me one...free. Really, just a cool guy. I met him a couple more times after that and actually got to talk one on one with him and ask him questions. At that time, he was playing his new bass design and it had some pop up knobs. He showed it to me and answered all my questions. it was like talking with any one of you here. Just a friendly guy who loved bass...that was my impression. R.I.P. Louis!

Just heard the sad news.

I am in shock !! One of my favorites of all times. One of the reasons I play a PBass.
I have been jamming Get on The Floor all week . And woke up singing it just this morning . Played it on my bike ride. Now I know why.
My prayers go out to those he left behind.
He left a great legacy of music here .
