Perhaps there needs to be a corollary to Godwin's Law, Matticus' Law: Whenever a news thread reaches the point that public information has become saturated and no additional information is available, the thread will inevitable devolve into a discussion about Miley Cyrus.
Well, I suppose you can't be the latter without being the former (although I suppose you could be a card-carrying member of the Nazi party without holding racialist views), but you can still be the former without being the latter.
