Rattle Can Refinish Club

Well...you asked.

All ReRanch Nitro,except the Sun Yellow P Bass.That is Krylon.

Every single one is a rattle can job.The clearcoats were done using McFaddens Nitro Clear through Preval cans.

i did a purple jazz, horribly, and im refinishing it.

Is it essential to strip the body of the poly prior to painting it, or can it be sprayed over the existing layer of poly?
I'm thinking of refinishing my Squier VM Jag, but i'm fairly confused about where to start..

Yeah, I'm just sanding it down, and I think it'd be fine to get it fairly close, and then just sprayed with Primer..

I'll have to do that tomorrow though, today is sanding.

It is not essential, though I always do so. The poly must be sanded to establish a mechanical bond. I'm thinking 400 grit is a good place to start as I generally sand my raw bodies to either 400 or 600.

Well first let me say thanks. As for the number I've done. I'd just have to say ALOT. I'm not sure exactly probably somewhere around 50 or so counting basses and guitars. I do it mostly as a hobby that sort of pays for itself with a small profit. I'll buy parts or whole basses here or there. Refin or try out some wacky color idea I have or want to recreate. I'll enjoy it for a while then sell one to pay for a new one. I also do a very small amount of finish work for others on the side. I try to keep that number low since I already work 50 hours a week.

BTW, here's a couple more that I just finished recently.
